Washing longer, enjoying it less

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Quiet is okay. Clothes come out dirty, dingy and with spots so I have to wash twice. It eats whatever is on the bottom of the load, Half of my pantyhose is trapped around the shaft. I had to rip them to get them out. The cycles are all over one to one and one-half hours long! I try using the quick wash and that is still too long, especially when the clothes do not come out clean. I like the fact that it is assembled in the US but I really wish I had done more homework before purchasing. I don't understand why there are so many different cycles. And the instruction book offers no help. If I have to set the water temperature separately, why are there different cycles for colors and whites, towels, and jeans? I don't understand the difference between the several different rinse settings either. Overall I wish I had never bought this washer. I probably won't have to endure it long, as I doubt it will last very long, with the way it wraps clothes around its shaft.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Great value for the money

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We replaced a Maytag with this new GE and so far it has worked great. This is actually our second. The first GE got out of balance or something after about a month and started making a horrible noise. But we called the retailer who sent someone out to check it and two days later they replaced it with a brand new one. This washer was purchased based on reviews and price and so far has performed excellently. It is quiet and cleans the clothes very well. It is important to note to follow GE's recommendations on loading and to use HE detergent, although we have used regular detergent as well and still had clean, fresh clothes and sheets.
I would recommend this to a friend!

WELL DESIGNED AND PRACTICAL

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have had this machine for about 6 months now. It as a huge capacity and is very quiet. Clothes come out drier than with my prior 28 year old machine but also somewhat more wrinkled. It takes less time to dry the clothes. The washer is attractive and it is easy to determine which cycle to use. Only difficulty is that if you want to change the cycle after it has started, it drains and starts from the beginning.
I would recommend this to a friend!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] HAVE HAD THE WASHER FOR A MONTH AND AM VERY SATISFIED WITH IT. CERTAINLY A GREAT IMPROVEMENT FROM MY OLD WASHER. CLOTHES CLEANER, SPOTS DISAPPEAR, DOES A GREAT JOB.
DEFINITELY WILL BUY AGAIN IF NECESSARY. QUIET, DOES TAKE A LONG TIME BUT PROBABLY WHY THE CLOTHES ARE CLEANER.

Caution loading this washer!!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The drum is large and appears to hold a large load. However, the water level never gets higher than half. Consequently, it is easy to overload. I put a new mattress pad in, using the highest water level available, and it got caught up under the agitator. The agitator came loose, the mattress pad had to be extricated by a service man. It had become entangled in the base, and was completely ruined. GE Insurance did reimburse me for the loss.
The automatic load sensing control is unreliable.
The best thing about this washer is lots of choices for the washing cycle.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

It does a very good job of cleaning my clothes and believe me I get my clothes real dirty at times working in my yard. It saves on power and water and the capacity is great as I don't have to wash as often. It runs so quite, I often have to double check to make sure it is running. The price was right also. A great value. I love it.

Am really pleased and impressed

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I sent my husband out looking for a new washer for me. I was at home watching grandkids. He picked out the last washer and had many good years with his last pick. Decided it was time to purchase when duct tape was holding the old washer together.
One requirement was I had to have an AGITATOR. I had already owned a front loader and did not like, and a plate washer which was plain terrible. He went to 2 places. The second place had this washer at a wonderful price and he could bring it home a.s.a p.!!!!
He got it hooked up, we turned it on, and oh my gosh, it sounded like it was on its last leg. Noise galore,. We called up our purchase store, they told us to bring it back right away. They would exchange it for a new washer,same brand. Got the 2nd washer home,got it hooked up, turned it on. OH my gosh, it was so quiet, we kept checking to make sure it was running.
I love the fact that this washer has many upgrades the older GE washers (my daughter GE older washer does not have). I love the fact you choose or let the washer choose water level and all the options of what kind of load you want to run. I have done the sheet/towel load, oh my gosh, absolutely fabulous . The delicate cycle is wonderful and got clothes clean and so gently.
I am using regular powder detergent in this washer. I just use a whole lot less. I can now do 2 loads in 1. Less washer time for me.
CON::: Wash time is longer but clothes are white and are almost dry when they come out of the washer. If I am correct a regular white load is about 60 minutes long wash time.

My daughter older GE washer is over 5 yrs old and still going strong, that is with 2 children.
