Basic design unchanged for 45 years

We purchased this dryer to replace a GE similar dryer that is 16 years old. This is our 3rd GE dryer in 45 years. With the same basic design, it will be easy to repair over the years and probably will be the last electric dryer we will buy. The new dryer is quiet and dries the clothes very quickly. It was easy to install. The adjustable leveling feet are plastic and easy to turn, but do not lock.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Drying Cycle on Permanent Press is Fabulous

I dry most my clothes on the Permanent Press selection - very gentle on clothes and at end of cycle are dry and cool. Only drawback to machine is the looseness of the light switch - it tends to turn sideways and does not fit securely to the frame. Hope this one last as long as my prior GE Dryer - that one I had for 31 years!

I bought this dryer online at had it delivered 11/22/14 and its running great so far. The thing about reviews is that most people write them the day after they get the product, so everything is great. I'm hoping that I am not going to have write another review in a year or two because this dryer has failed, but I bought it because GE has a good reputation and the dryer had the lowest wattage of any dryer I found. It's controls are mechanical, not computerized, which means they are less likely to fail. The moisture sensor means that dry time should be just right to get clothes dry and not bake them to a crisp. Runs quieter than my old dryer and takes up less space, and still holds 7cu ft. Like I said, I'll check back in a year and give an updated review.
