Bad ice maker

Constant problems with the ice maker. It freezes over and stops making ice. The cover gets stuck and won't come off. I'm on my third repair order.

Crap. Crap. Crap. If stays cold. That's about as much as I can say about this refrigerator. For more than $2500 it should make ice... Especially after 3 factory certified visits

Hi there,
It's our pleasure to assist you with your review of your Samsung refrigerator.
In order to operate the ice maker properly, a water pressure of 20-125 psi is required.

Having the ice maker freezing is affecting your overall experience, Mzholly. Let us go ahead and check some setting to get the ice maker on track.
There are a few factors that can cause an ice maker to not work. If the ice maker appears to not be making any or enough ice, low water pressure or a faulty water filter may be to blame.
Ice maker is not working https://www.samsung.com/us/support/troubleshooting/TSG01001012/#ice-bucket-is-stuck-or-has-a-block-of-ice
Samsung's ice makers are designed to stop when they're full. There are two methods for this: either an optical sensor or a mechanical arm, which detects when ice has piled high enough. If your ice maker won't stop making ice, it means ice is not piling high enough to reach the sensor or arm, typically because the ice bucket is not in the proper position.

Owned for nine years. Fridge compartment Ice maker problems from month one. Watched every repair video, purchased and made every improvement possible without replacing the actual ice maker or auger unit. It freezes up once a month requiring a forced defrost and a good streaming. Of course it cracks the ice bucket when it freezes up, so that has gorilla glue on it to repair it. What a mess. What a horrible mess.

Beware the Fridge Compartment ice maker!
on January 5, 2023

Purchased nine years ago. Refrigerator compartment ice maker problems from month one. Watched every video, made every simple repair (y clips, new brackets, caulk, tape, leveling, tube length). Water pressure and flow vol ok. It just freezes up monthly, requiring forced defrost and steaming. It simply is beyond hope.

I bought all four frig, stove, dishwasher and microwave, all but the microwave have been huge disappointments!!! I have had them maybe 2 years and the dishwasher has stop working once, just went dead. The clock on the stove looks like it glitches with a constant flickering behind the clock, the name plate is coming off which is just so unattractive, plus the coating “black stainless “ is peeling under the oven door handle! Now the refrigerator although the ice maker which everyone else seems to have had trouble with has always worked well the shelf that wraps around the ice maker inside on the door has broken, the bottom has split, and let’s talk about how it’s a 4 day project the clean under the glass 🙄 why should anyone have to disassemble a refrigerator to that degree to clean under that little lip where the glass sits? These appliances are completely garbage!!! For the money I have spent I feel completely sick!

Hello there.
We all need fine working appliances to make our daily life easier. Let's go ahead and get the information you need.
When your dishwasher doesn't turn on, it could be nothing to fret about. It could be a tripped circuit breaker or a switch that needs to be flipped. Please check this link for details.
Samsung dishwasher does not turn on https://www.samsung.com/us/support/troubleshooting/TSG01001914/
The display on your oven is intended to light up only the functions you need at any particular moment. If there seems to be an error on display, such as incomplete digits, cycling the power may reset the panel and get it working again. Please check this link for details.
Samsung range or wall oven panel is blank, blinking, or partially or incorrectly displayed https://www.samsung.com/us/support/troubleshooting/TSG01110183/
For the fridge's exterior, use a stainless cleaner, polish, or soft cloth, and always wipe in the grain direction. Never use abrasive cleaning products, as this could scratch the fridge's finish.
Please watch these videos for some tips and guides.

Sometimes messes in the fridge require deeper cleaning, and to get the job done, and you have to remove the refrigerator bins, shelves, and drawers. Please check this link for details.

There weren't any issues until we noticed that our food in the fridge started to become frozen. After a while, we noticed a puddle on the bottom underneath the CoolSelect Pantry. If you don't clean up the water puddle, it will eventually become a chunk of ice like an ice skating rink. The fridge compartment eventually became as cold as the freezer. I called a service technician at least 4x already and they couldn't do anything to fix it, claiming "Samsung has had this issue with this fridge since it first came out for production and it's not under our warranty to fix known conditions". Meaning, you will never get it fixed or if you do, the problem will come again after a few years. It was temporarily fixed when I noticed that my drain tubes (behind and underneath the fridge) was clogged, not allowing the frozen coils to properly drain and when I manually reinstalled a new temperature probe but the problem came back after one year. Overall, bad design. Heating coils do not heat enough or properly drain, draining tubes can get clogged easily, improper air ventilation, and/or bad temperature sensors can lead to the fridge compartment freezing all your food. I DO NOT RECOMMEND TO BUY.

We appreciate you posting a review, Randy Ly.
We understand that you don't want your freezer to be so cold that all your food freezes into solid blocks of ice. Typically, this is caused by a constantly running ice maker, or the temperature settings for the freezer compartment need to be adjusted.
I have shared a Samsung link below about Samsung freezer is too cold. https://www.samsung.com/us/support/troubleshooting/TSG01109866/
Also, make sure that you are using the right temperature settings on your fridge. You can check it on the link below. https://www.samsung.com/us/support/answer/ANS00080450/

We bought all new Samsung appliances when we moved into our home in 2017 including this model fridge. It was great for awhile. Then the trouble started. The fan in the back kept freezing over and having to be replaced. Multiple times. The first time or two we hired someone to do it. Then my husband did it at least 2 more times. Each time it required defrosting with a heat gun and / or hair dryer after completely emptying the fridge and pulling the back panel. Also, the ice make also kept freezing over. We finally stopped trying to fix the ice maker and started buying ice. Also, it does not keep a constant temperature throughout the fridge Items in the back near the fan get so cold they freeze. More recently it start leaking water all over our kitchen floor. In short, this expensive, major appliance was way more hassle and headache. We have a GE Profile being delivered today because we just want to be rid of this thing.

Greetings,
Being able to get the fridge working at optimal performance is a must, DameIt. Using the correct temperature settings will keep the unit running efficiently.
To keep your fridge performing at its best, you’ll want to ensure you keep up with preventative maintenance. To prevent ice buildup, dispense at least a small amount regularly.
To ensure optimal performance, we strongly advice setting the temperature to 0 °F (-18 °C) for the freezer and 37 °F (3 °C) for the fridge.
