Holds just about everything but the kitchen sink

When our first HE front-loader literally spun the inside of itself to pieces after eight years, we knew exactly which brand we'd replace it with: LG. After using a friend's LG front-loading pair a few years ago while visiting on vacation, I was extremely impressed with the quality and features of her machines. This washer hasn't let us down! It is excellent quality in every way—from the better design of the direct-drive motor (instead of a belt# and the solid drum, to the touchpad, knob, and push-button controls. I am also impressed by the 10-year warranty on the motor—it is not common to find a warranty of that length these days.
I thought our first front loader could hold a huge amount of laundry, but I have been astounded at how many clothes I can wash now. With six kids, it is nice to be able to keep up on the laundry better! And this machine does a fantastic job--it washes the clothes gently but gets stains and dirt out extremely well--much better than our old machine. I wash most things on cold--it saves money and most clothes do better in a cold water wash--and the fact that this machine can get things so clean in cold water is a boon to us. I love that it uses several different motions to clean the clothes instead of just going one direction. And I LOVE that I don't feel like I'm wasting water if I have only a few things that need to be thrown in. Our old washer did not have the ability to tell how big your load was or to tell it that you were only putting in a small or medium load. This washer senses the weight of the load and adjusts accordingly. #I have actually not filled it to its highest capacity yet because I'd have to dry stuff in two shifts. I am looking forward to when we can afford to get the matching dryer to this washer!# There are so many great cycles and settings on this machine! I like that the machine can adjust itself, especially with a preset cycle, to work in the way that will #a# get the items you’re washing the cleanest, and #b# save itself from unnecessary wear and tear!
One thing you need to know is that if you have a dimly-lit laundry room, like mine, the touch-pad selections are extremely hard to see. #Now that I have them memorized, it's not as big of a problem.# And if your laundry room is also in the basement, like mine, the pleasant melody the washer plays, even set at its highest settings, is really hard to hear unless your kids are all quiet #ha, ha). It would be nice if it could play louder. Also, one thing I would love for LG engineers to know is that I do NOT like that the "small load" setting does NOT allow you to change the water temperature! That makes no sense to me--I have many instances where the small load I'd like to wash needs to be washed on cold or hot. And I'm not sure why this machine is advertised as a "time-saver"--the only cycle that is shorter than my previous machine is the SpeedWash cycle (which works really well, by the way. . .). The cycle I use most takes a good hour and a half or more, especially if I use the prewash setting. That's a LOT of time, which means I have to plan carefully. However, the tumble feature keeps the clothes nice and fresh instead of mildewing and stinking in the drum, the way they did in my old machine.
Overall, there are so many great things about this washer--I'm so glad we bought it! You will not regret purchasing this machine!
Pros: Performance, easy to use, Features/Settings, Quality, large capacity

Poorly made

Started having issues as soon as the warranty ended. This is too expensive of a product to have issues after a year and a half. The button to turn it on is off center, and will not push in easily. It takes about 5 minutes to push a button now, and support did not have a fix for this. I can still get it to work, by pushing it around for a while on the side that isn't fitting in easily. It is frustrating to put a bunch of clothes in the laundry, and not know whether I can get it to start or not.
Pros: capacity

Using it for over 2 years!

Purchased it over two years ago and it has been great! Only thing is that it is possible to put too much in it. I stuffed it with towels and it could not spin well. That was my fault. Had to divide the load and rewash because they dryer would not dry the soaking wet towels. It washes my king size comforter fine. I do the wash about every other week and that's enough for two people who change clothes often. If I wash weekly it seems like a waste because it's half full. The front inside the rubber part does need to get wiped down occasionally and if you don't leave the door open to air out the inside, it does start to smell gross.
Pros: Style/Design, easy to use

Leaks!
on November 9, 2015

I have had this washer for almost 2 years. A couple of months after we bought it, we would find water on the floor coming from the bottom of the machine. This happens every 2-5 months. It will leak, then we will do another load right after, and it won't leak again for a few months. We had a few technicians come out when it was under warranty to check it out, but because it happens very intermittently, they were not able to fix it or figure out what is going on. So, I call every time it leaks just to have a record of it. We use HE powder detergent, and I only put a small or medium amount in, even if I am doing a very large load. I also clean the tub faithfully every month, and it still happens. Other than the leak, I do love the machine, as I can now wash all my comforters at home - the capacity is great.

Love my LG Mega washer and dryer
on November 6, 2015

I'll only write a review if I feel strongly about a product and believe in it. I bought the mega combo's in August 2015... I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THEM. I don't have any complaints about these machines. They wash my clothes very well. Even though I know I could stuff the heck out of it...I DONT. I take very good care of them and I get great results with all my washings. For my husband and son's T-shirts I always use the sanitize cycle. I use that cycle to get rid of the brown and yellow stains under the arm pits...it works wonderfully. Learned that in a review prior to buying them...thanks for the tip. No more yukky stains for my for my guys. Love the fact that could customize the washes. The most important thing for me to have done is study my owners manual, for me that's key. I clean off any water like it says to do on the glass door and wipe off any water around the gasket, keep the door open/ajar to prevent smells or mildew. I also empty out the water pump / filter after I'm done for the weekend washing clothes. It says to empty every two months. I don't, it's emptied ASAP. The dryer is just good as the washer. Love that the dryer sensor will detect if your clothes are getting dyer and it will lessen the time from the original time you selected automatically. You could custom program the dryer as well. Bottom line, these machines are GREAT for me and my family. I really don't have any complaints. Love both my machines, money well spent. I got a spectacular price on them. I did a lot of researching as well. Online and on you tube. Liked what I heard and saw. The rest is history my friends. You won't be disappointed. One other thing, buy water arrestors this will keep the pipes from knocking. Very simple to put on your water faucet /valve.

Fantastic Washer! Absolutely Love It!
on February 13, 2013

I absolutely love this new washer! Ever since I started using it, it's been really wonderful to have! Because the washer is so big, you can practically fill it as much clothes as it can hold. There's five people in this house, so having a big washing machine is a time saver. I don't have to wash so many batches of clothes anymore! Also, having this large washing machine enables me to wash King Size comforters and multiple blankets at once (depending on how much can fit).
The LG washer is also quiet, which is great because I didn't want to hear any annoying noises. I love how it's a front load washer because I didn't like how my really old top load washer (bought that old one about 12 years ago) cleans my clothes. My old washer stretches the fabric with that middle paddle attached to it).
The quality is absolutely great! The LG washer can withstand a lot of clothes being washed in one day. The clothes can come out almost dry, especially if you don't put a lot of clothes in.
I also love the features and settings of the LG washer because it's so easy to use. I can pick whatever settings I want based on the clothes that I am washing. This LG washer is so smart that it can weigh how much clothes are inside it, and be able to put the right water amount on it. Thus, the LG washer doesn't waste a lot of water compared to my really old washer.
Buying the Graphite Steel color definitely makes this LG washer very stylish and sleek. I really love how the color looks! This LG washer is definitely worth buying!

My washer has been replaced.

This model was replaced because I had several problems with the washer. Thank goodness for the warranty! The sales person should warn customers about possible water hammering (banging) noise when washer is filling with water that is not covered under your limited warranty.
