[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] bought this machine 2 years ago with protection plan and has now had 7 service calls and still doesn't work. so much for 10 year warranty on direct drive. they replaced that as well. kept getting worse the more someone worked on it. now i am eating my protection plan and just buying another machine. they wouldn't replace machine even after all the visits- they would only say they would fix again.

Great looking, quality construction and quiet

The only downside is the washer tub is a joined with a sharp bond that is far from smooth. If the rest of the tub is smooth and the competition all use a one piece smooth tub, i'm concerned about the potential of delicate clothing being harmed by the seam. Check it out, feel the "sharpness" inside the tub. Time will tell.

Large loads gave me back my sanity.

I have only had this machine for a couple of months, but as a mom of three toddlers it has been a life saver. I used to do laundry everyday, usually multiple loads. Now I can go a few days without doing laundry and in just a few loads be completely done.
The loads do take longer than my old machine, but considering the amount of laundry is three times as much it isn't a huge trade off to me.
I did talk to customer service and now only use two tablespoons of detergent instead of the detergent companies recommendation (note: Detergents I use are ALL or Tide).
Pros: large loads

Big Momma
on June 7, 2014

Love this BIG MOMMA washer & matching dryer!!! I work shift work so our laundry piles up for 3 days (2 adults, 1 teenager, 1 grade school) at a time and I can load this BIG MOMMA washer and dryer and have our laundry done in 2 to 3 loads tops. I wanted the biggest and the best that was available and I got it. So far so good. It is a little expensive but well worth it as I am not spending my first day off work doing laundry for 12 hours straight. I just got this set in April 2014 so we haven't had it very long but my favorite feature is the set it and forget it; I can set a load to wash 5 or 6 hours after I go to sleep and when I wake up pop them in the dryer and the clothes don't spend all day in the wash just sitting there getting stinky, absolutely love it!!
Pros: Performance, Style/Design, easy to use, Features/Settings, Quality, large capacity

Great washer ( if you know how to use it)

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This washer has been excellent to us. I have 3 kids under 3 and do a LOT of laundry. I love the capacity. I think a lot of people who have problems with this (or any front loader) just fundamentally don't understand how HE machines work. A standard agitator machine uses a lot of water and mechanical agitation to get clothes clean. HE machines, largely rely on the friction of the clothes against themselves to create agitation. So adding more water or not filling the machine appropriately (more than half full at least) can lead to not enough agitation. Also, there is no reason to use LESS detergent. Modern detergents are designed to rinse away completely, regardless even in HE machines. Any detergent that tells you to use less in an HE machine is not truly formulated to work well in one. In 10 years of owning HE machines, I've never had mold.mildew. Leave the door open between cycles, wipe down the seal weekly, run a clean cycle monthly.

Just like any other LG life spent is ~5 years. It’s falling apart like “Chinese motorcycle“ after 5. Drain pumps and rear bearings are most common.this is second out of 3 sets that we had and first one broke in 5 years now second one is almost one.maybe I need to switch to different brand
Otherwise it’s OK.
Pros: Style/Design

A few kinks early on but works great now.

I have to say I'm completely happy with my purchase although the price is WAY more that I originally said I would pay for a washer. The capacity makes all the difference for our family of 6 (sometimes 7 when the mother in law is visiting). A few kinks early on but all are worked out now. At a little under a month the motherboard had to be replaced which made me second guess my decision. Since I couldn't with 100 percent certainty blame it on manufacturer defect (I have 2 little ones that may or may not have had something to do with the problem) I gave it a second chance and I have come to love my new washer. Another thing is that I have always heard bad stories about front load washers, how they make your clothes smell which I will admit I had a problem with on a few loads. I finally figured out that I was using to much detergent even though I was using the HE and going by the measurements. The repair guy gave me some advice on the detergent amount and it made such a difference. And, as with all energy efficient appliances, our utility bills have improved which is a huge bonus. The only true complaint I have is that the direction in which the washer door opens cannot be swapped which makes it hard to transfer clothes from washer to dryer in my laundry room.

Outstanding washer. Meets what is advertised!

LG has built a great washer. Meets all the expectations of our large family. Reduces the number of loads due to its large capacity. Cleans the clothes much better than expected. Numerious functions that enhances the cleaning experience. Highly recommend this machine for large families. Downside is the door should be reversible for various laundry room configurations.
