Not built to last!

We purchased this refrigerator from PC Richard 4/2016. We are a family of 4 and we loved the smartly designed storage space and the dual ice makers were so nice with two teenage athletes. The compressor started to make a high pitched squeal and this morning we woke up to water under the fridge as the freezer wasn't cooling. Reputable repair service diagnosed failed compressor and mother board. Really, not even 4 years of use and major failures? Faced with the choice of ordering parts from LG and having to wait 7-9 business days as well as pay any their 500$ for service we decided to go out and buy another Fridge. Will definitely not purchase another LG refrigerator again, what a piece of junk!

Could not be more unhappy with product and service

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We bought this refrigerator 3 1/2 years ago and it recently stopped working. It even looks and feels brand new still. We were very good about changing the filters and pulling it out to vacuum behind the unit every now and then, and then one day it just died. MIND YOU, it has a giant sticker on the front that says, "10 Year Compressor Warranty." After it stopped working, I then had to take what food I could and put it in a 25 year old refrigerator made by another company in my basement.
SO. Here. We. Go. I reached out to LG, and told them that their compressor died. They told me that they would replace the compressor, but that I had to pay for the $4-500 worth of labor (So 1/4 of the purchase price?). We then went to Home Depot, found our receipt, and we did purchase the protection plan! Great! $180 well spent in this case. WRONG! LG uses the worst companies on the entire planet to do service repairs. This particular company has a one star review on all major websites. They were insanely rude AND they did not show up AT ALL to the service delivery. I have now been without a refrigerator for three weeks now. I have been given the run around for WEEKS now! I had to go find my own company to do the repair... not the warranty people. And I will likely be paying out of pocket for the repairs.
So, two things. DO NOT buy this refrigerator; it will break. Probably DO NOT buy any LG products at all (I won't be) (And I was planning on buying the matching oven here shortly), and if you do buy these products, don't waste money on the warranty, because they will try to stiff you anyway or get a disreputable company to do an install who will nott show up.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Great Fridge

I really love the storage capacity and all the features. I have been looking for quite some time and decide on this model. The capacity of the freezer compartment is awesome. The control panel is a great feature, being able to set the exact temperature and I love that it will notify you if you leave the door open.
Pros: Performance, Style/Design, easy to use, Features/Settings, Quality

Easy open handle on the freezer is a must for anyone who has struggled with a vacuum sealed door. The freezer was our biggest worry when we purchased. We have always had a side by side or top freezer. We have not found any concerns after we used the freezer. Has a lot of storage and easy to get to. The pull out drawer helps a lot with organizing.
Ice maker is quite and will generate enough ice. We have not had any trouble with ice freezing together, however we use a lot of ice everyday. Handle is a little hard to open. We transfer the cubes to storage in the lower freezer and use the dispenser for crushed.
We like the reminder beeps if the doors are left open too long even though we do not have children at home any longer, we still forget to close the doors sometimes.
Refrigerator storage and lay out is great. We can adjust the shelves to meet our needs. We especially like the trays on the ice maker door for storage of smaller thin items. We like that no space is wasted.

Great Fridge

I absolutely love this refrigertaor. It has so much space and the lighting in both the fridge and freezer compartments is fantastic. I love the amount of space in the door shelving. The moveable shelf in the fridge for taller items is a great space saver. However, the small shelf being on top does limit what items will fit on the top shelf. My only complaint is the ice maker that needs constant attention for it to work properly. The ice constantly freezes solid in the ice bin and you have to break it up on a daily basis almost. I do find it odd that a fridge this expensive would have such an issue. Overall, I love the fridge and haven't had any mechanical issues thus far to make me unhappy with it.

I purchased this after reading many reviews - I had owned other name brand appliances but their reviews were not as great as the LG. I just remodeled my kitchen and purchased all LG appliances. The warranty is outstanding, the refrigerator itself is gorgeous! I love the ice and water on the door( crushed being my favorite) the lighting inside is great! It is simply beautiful and works great! There is no noise when its running... All the shelves are easy to reach and very clean. The freezer is huge and has many sections and an extra tray for the extra ice. I have recommended this refrigerator to everyone!

Couldn't Be Happier

We were remodeling our kitchen with the intention of leaving the old appliances in. Once the work was finished, we had to just upgrade appliances too. We wanted to get a French Door Fridge, so I started researching them on line & thru Consumer's Report. Based on the size of the opening in our kitchen and the positive reviews we found, we chose this model. My wife & I could not be happier. After moving our groceries from the old side by side to this unit, it looked as if we hadn't any food on hand. There was so much extra space. Since the unit was purchased just before the holidays, we put it to great use. Items cooked or baked that we use to have to put in the garage because there was no space in the old unit to store it fit into the new unit without any problem. Items cooked or stored for Christmas dinner filled the unit, but still had places for other items. We read about the small capacity of the icemaker, but that was easily overcome by storing extra ice in the bin in the freezer section. Only once did we run short & that was because we had three parties in a row and I failed to refill the bin in the freezer. We highly recommend this product to anyone looking for an new unit.

Problems after 16 months

I bought LG thinking it had a good reputation and was reliable. It has been a good refrigerator, except that after 16 months, I have an error code (1f) something to do with the ice maker. Now, I'm regretting buy a refrigerator with all these features. Old refrigerators without electronic features just seem to run forever. Aggravated that I spent so much on this and now have to spend more to fix it. Life is NOT good and shouldn't have problems this soon.
