First of all, the 7" Android tablet market seems to be a very popular one, and contains a vast amount of cheap, underpowered, low RAM, low storage units, Unfortunately, this tablet is barely above those.
First of all, the specs claim that you have 8GB of storage but in reality, you only have 4GB, because the storage is divided into two partitions, internal, and a virtual SD card area. If you look at the memory structure, it appears that both the internal & virtual SD card space equal each other. While I can't really blame the company for this, they should have been able to have a great deal of input in how the Tab's memory is laid out. You CANNOT use the external SD card for program storage... you can only store photos, music, and videos. Bummer. You can only blame the Android operating system manufacturer for that failure. It was their belief and infinite wisdom that said that we would only need the storage that was included with the unit. Yeah, right... and who came up with the idea of a dedicated cache area that once full, prevented you from downloading anything from the play store, no matter how much free memory you have? You have to physically delete the cache contents using a file manager or third party memory memory manager.
Another issue I have is with the proprietary connector at the bottom of the unit. It severely limits the connectivity to external devices such as card readers and USB devices. Most USB devices offered by the company do not support the Tab 2. Fortunately there ARE other 3rd-party alternatives out there that do support the Tab 2 in case you want to use a USB flash drive or card reader.
In its defense though, performance is good, sound is loud and clear, and the display is sharp and bright. Even though I am NOT going to tell you to root your device (it will void your warranty), you do gain a significant amount of advantages in the operation of your device, especially with backing up all your information.
If you don't plan on going beyond 4GB of programs, then this device is for you.
Pros: Built-in speakers, Bright display, Inexpensive, Realistic color
Cons: poor memory layout, cannot save programs to ext sd card, limited external connection features
I would recommend this to a friend!

My wife and I went looking to buy either a Kindle Fire or Nook Tablet. We saw all the extra features that we could use with this Galaxy Tab 2 for basically the same price and the choice was a no brainer. We wanted a device that could do other things, but mainly want to use it as an ereader. After spending a little time with this device and seeing that it also supported bluetooth and expandable memory via microSD, we were sold!
Pros: Built-in speakers, Bright display, Inexpensive, Durable, Realistic color, Lightweight, bluetooth, expandable memory via microsd

Why would anyone buy an iPad?

I received this device as a Father's Day gift and I can't say enough about it. I don't know where to start. If you don't believe me, go to a retailer and try it out - just spend 30 minutes on it and you'll be addicted.
I'm logging about 3 hours a day on this thing - can't get enough. It has two cameras and simple navigation along a bunch of other great features - speed, fantastic colors, design and weight. With the Android operating system I don't know why anyone would want to lock themselves into that silly proprietary ipad where you can only do and use what Apple says you can do and use. With this Samsung tablet the sky is the limit.
Some other reviewer made a complaint that the screen capture button is too close to other buttons. While that may be true I don't know who uses this feature anyway. I haven't found a use for it but who knows, maybe it will come in handy for something down the road.
Pros: Built-in speakers, Bright display, Inexpensive, Durable, Realistic color, Lightweight

I bought this product looking for a simple e-reader or tablet so I can bring to school, access email, and to have many other uses. I was in between purchasing a few products, but ended up getting the galaxy II and am beyond satisfied. There is so much you can do with this product, I was blown away. My friends have iPads and for half the price, the galaxy II is just as good and is more portable. Love this tablet and would recommend it to anyone. Samsung makes amazing products, I have never had an issue with any of my samsung electronics.
Pros: Built-in speakers, Bright display, Inexpensive, Durable, Realistic color, Lightweight, versatility

I would love to give it 5 stars, but ...

I love my Galaxy Tab 2 7.0, but I am a little disappointed in it so far. When I found this online, I was so excited that I would be able to install apps to the micro sd card. However, once I received it (as a gift for Mother's Day). I was very disappointed. After I had had it for a bout a week and couldn't figure out how to move the apps to the micro sd card, I checked out Samsung's support page. I was very upset to find out that the OS(Ice Cream Sandwich) does not support this and probably will not support this. Then, a few weeks ago, my phone updated to Ice Cream Sandwich and I am able to save my apps to the micro sd card. However, I am still unable to do this with my Galaxy 2 7.0. I am still waiting for an update that will fix this. Once this issue is fixed, I would gladly give 5 stars on everything.
Pros: Built-in speakers, Bright display, Inexpensive, Durable, Lightweight
Cons: Did not meet expectations

Greatly Exceeded My Expectation

Bought the Galaxy Tab 7 2.0 wanting to catch up on technology to keep up with my adult kids. At the same time I wanted the device to be useful to me. I'm totally delighted with my purchase. Here's what I like:
1) 7" size is just right for my taste not too big to carry around and not too small for my old eyes to see. Display is excellent; movies are better than my HD TV and I can read for hours on the tablet.
2) Have no problem getting a full days use out of the battery and the Wi-Fi is very sensitive.
3) Here's what I can do that I really like: Get Kindle books for free from Google and the public library. Get epub book formats for free from the public library, et al. Watch Netflix videos. Stay up with the news in commercial free apps like BBC and Yahoo news sites. TED videos are wonderful. Video-talk to my kid's smart phones just as if I was using a smart phone (as long as I have Wi-Fi). Listen to tons of radio and music choices. Listen to all music content on my desktop computer. And of course email and web browse.
Pros: Bright display, Realistic color
Cons: can't use auto brightness mode (too dark), don't buy for the camera

Almost Perfect

Although I tried--and I tried hard--to use and love the iPad, it just wasn't for me. Same with the ereaders-turned-tablets. There was always the initial excitement, the "look-what-I-can-do-with-it," but the shine wore off within a few days as I kept running into things it couldn't do. I was getting tired of having four or five devices--each with a few drawbacks. So I did my research, made a list of "has-to-haves" and found the Tab 2 7.0. It hasn't left my side since I brought it home. I love this lil' machine. It's everything--my ereader(s), my calendars, my note taker, my casual game player, my music player, and my mobile video player. It is so simple to use, and performs every function quite well.
Pros: Bright display, Durable, Lightweight, value
Cons: location of speakers
