Brother Scanner

It does the job it was designed to do very well; it is fast, accurate, inexpensive and, most importantly, it is small in size.
I would recommend this to a friend!

dissappointed

Was told the software included will provide easy search and recovery for documents....after many hours of testing with Brother personnel I now learn that this ADS2000 cannot perform these features.
The base unit and functionality is really good, but was really looking forward to the search and recovery from the software not me setting up files and folders to support this.

Extremely dissapointed

I had hoped that this scanner would help me at my home office but it did not. I bought it at Amazon and the scanner is not able to recognize different sizes of paper. It immediately stops if you try to scan them continuously. I tried to talk to Brother customer service to explain the situation but they were not helpful at all. They just kept saying to go back to Amazon. I will never buy a Brother product ever again.

Not a photo scanner

I bought this scanner to archive several thousand photos of my children growing up. The scan quality was poor, left a streak in the digital image and it scratched the original paper copy.
Brother's support was great and the return of both the replacement and the original scanner was smooth.
I would NOT recommend this product for persons wanting to scan photos.

Great product when it works like it is supposed to

When it works properly, it is fast and the scan is clear and crisp. However, I have had intermittent problems with long delays (10-15 minutes) between hitting the scan button and the scan actually beginning, or once the scan is complete it can take 5-10 minutes for the scan to reach the file. I have been in contact with Brother on this. They said they would have a rep contact me to discuss. I could not talk to them the first time they called, they scheduled another call but the call never came.

Great mechanically. Poor software.

Generally I like my new Brother 2000e scanner. It seems reliable and does a great job. There are some frustrating annoyances with the software, however:
1. It is a little cumbersome clicking on Brother Utilities and then having to click again on going through the ControlCenter4 to get a menu for running a scan.
2. ControlCenter4 is great for occasional uses--scanning many different documents, some with color some not, some regular sized paper and many with different sizes, some both sides, some only fronts. It gives great flexibility. However, when selecting a destination folder and putting in the file name, the menus are very cumbersome, especially for those of us used to the Windows 10 standard flexibility of navigating to different folders and files by simply clicking on a folder name in a long tree of folders to get to the wanted folder, then clicking on a file with a similar name and editing it to a better one for the current scan. Clicking on the "Browse" button next to the default folder brings up a very crude, almost DOS-era, navigation window of fixed size (!!) and a scroll bar to go up and down to where you think the desired folder is located, only to have to double click on a folder to open it (duh), which doesn't always work, so you have to go to the c: drive, open that, go to Users, and open that, then to the current user name or initials and open that, then on and on down the tree to the folder you desire. Having to do this on each new and different scan is tedious and slows productivity considerably, especially when you are scanning documents intended for a variety of folders on the computer and possibly on an external device with a different drive letter (e:).
3. By abandoning ControlCenter4, you can initiate your scan using Adobe Acrobat by clicking on "Create" then "PDF from scanner" then "Custom Scan" and select first the scanner (If it is in quiescent mode, it won't show up unless you close Acrobat, put a document in the feeder to turn it on, and then run Acrobat), and then Front or Both sides, B&W or Color, Resolution (or keep the most recent default), and finally paper size either from the pull down menu (for which you have to know what "5R" etc. size designations are in inches or millimeters) or select custom and enter the actual measured paper dimensions, or just let it scan small documents onto an 8.5 x 11 inch standard size, in which case sometimes it puts solid black on either side of the smaller document so that if you print it you use a lot of black ink or toner unnecessarily.. Basically, auto sheet size doesn't work when scanning from Acrobat. Only when using Brother's software.
Other than these inconveniences, it works great!

Great Scanner and Fast

Recently, I had to scan documents to settle my Mom's estate. It took hours using a printer/scanner. Then I bought the ADS-200e. The same job wouldn't have taken a minute; scans both sides and creates a beautiful .pdf file and in color. I love it!
