Could be better

This is not a bad little scanner. There are a couple of things that would make it better though. I have to scan receipts and to keep them organized, I tape them to a piece of paper. This scanner will not allow me to scan that piece of paper. It gives an error of "multiple pages". Also, I have to keep uninstalling and installing the drivers because the top part of a page gets cut off after being used for a while.

I use paperport 14 and previously used an Epson Workforce Scanner. We scan documents to a shared drive and previously, I was able to view the scanned documents on the shared drive from my computer. Not so with this scanner. Customer Service told me that only the person with administrative rights can see the scanned document. In other words, since my computer is not hooked up directly to this scanner, I can not see the PDF documents. I returned scanner because of this obivous problem.

Very impressed with capabilities this scanner has. Don't let it's size fool you. Great product!

The ADS-2000 was bought for my wife and her MacBook Pro running OSX 10.8.2 (the latest version). The disk provided is intended for Windows. I was able to find the appropriate software on the web. I had to call support to figure out some basics, but once accomplished, the unit has been performing flawlessly. It's fast and best of all, my wife is using it and loves it.

Evernote issues

I also have a ScanSnap for another location. A principal use of scanners is to scan into Evernote. Out of the box the ADS-2000 did not appear to have that capability. I found a non-commercial software fix that allows me to scan to Evernote.
The ADS is in need of having an ability to scan to Evernote as part of the install. Also Brother should do more to create an option screen as is present on the ScanSnap.

Nice desktop scanner, beats out the older Fi-4120's we used to use.

Satisfied . . .

To start - this Scanner is fast AND, it does what I need it to do. I'm scanning literally three 4-drawer file cabinets full of 2 generations of estate documents . . . it'll take weeks. . . but would take years with a flat bed. Now - the cons are I don't need fancy software. I want to config it, push a button and scan. Sometimes, though I finally figured out how to just make this happen,k either the scanning service (i.e. Windows 7 OS) gets confused or the loaded software (CC4) seems to get in the way. I just sorta disconnect everything, reboot and I'm back to nice and simple. It's worth the cost, no doubt, but old paperwork is a pain (and often has lots of different sizes which still need to be sorted and fed either together with the guides moved or by hand, one at a time. You just can't totally remove the human element in scanning (at least, not at this price).
