ADS-2000 Sugested Improvements

My account record history tells of a situation that went on for two years and was finally resolved by replacing the hardware (ADS-2000). My reasoning here is why did it take two years and numerous phone calls and waiting for firmware and software updates. This by any means is hardly acceptable standards in customer care and resolve. Though your support staff was always courteous and professional the means to the end came long and disturbing.
Living with the ADS-2000 for some time now I do have suggestions for the product itself. The paper width guides that adjust slide roughly and jumpy and many times hard to adjust properly for the paper width that is critical for the paper to feed correctly. Paper alignment must be exacts or the outcome is skewed scans that auto skew does not fix unless you take the extra step to run OCR after the completed scan. I suggest a thumb wheel that adjusts the paper alignment guides. This stops having to adjust the two guides independently. After all simultaneously movement will help with center alignment within the guides.

Good little scanner. Good quality. Few mistakes. Much better than my NEAT scanner which is truly a pain in the A**.
The Brother ADS-2000 performs almost flawlessly IF you remember to put in the right settings when you switch from small or thick paper in the plastic sheath to regular scanning.
But isn't the operator ALWAYS the weak link?
PS: It is smaller than you would guess from its pictures.

I can rely on it, that's the most important thing I like about it. Pages go through smoothly and don't stick together. Brother Support helped me install the CD and fix the settings. I always buy Brother products because the support is awesome. Thank you.

I love the choice I made in purchasing the scanner, there was one other in mind, but with the price I couldn't pass it up. I use this scanner at work and I enjoy it, but it took me a little getting used to. What I do not like about it is that it will not scan multiple documents if one of them has a taped receipt to it. This causes a problem when scanning multiple pages. I will look for a solution at a later date which I have not had a chance to do at this time.

Great Machine

Although the first one didn't work it was exchanged ok. It takes a bit to get used to, but is a fantastic timesaver. The JPGs can scan photos which is Incredibly Useful - but mainly 4 x 6 as base - wish it had other options but this works ok because when you go to print it actually gets rid of the margins.
I dont know what I'd do without this it is so much better to feed documents straight through and 2 sided than the other products on the market.
