I purchased the Waterpik at the recommendation of my dental hygienist. After skipping dental visits for a couple of years, I developed periodontal disease - a mild enough case but still bad enough to require two deep-cleaning sessions and quarterly visits. During the first session, my hygienist suggested I try a water-style flossing device and perhaps change to an electric toothbrush. So I researched water flossers and found the Waterpik got very good ratings. My hygienist's preference was a spinning toothbrush but since we have limited counter space in the bathroom and the WP-900 came with a brush, I ordered.
I can't express how much better using a water-flossing device is over regular flossing. I have two bridges and for years I've used the special floss to get under them and still wasn't sure how effective that was. The Waterpik has multiple tips that clean, clean/massage, and clean/brush (especially good on bridges). The water reservoir is just the right size for a single flossing. The rotating tip and the momentary shutoff button make maneuvering around the teeth really simple. One suggestion - the product literature shows a guys standing upright flossing. Forget that, bend over the sink. In a couple of reviews, I read some found the WP-900 to be a little noisy. Maybe to some but I brush floss just before bed so it's not a problem for me of my wife. The brush vibrates at two speeds - the lower speed is good but I prefer the higher setting. I runs for 30 seconds with a momentary pause between each 30 second interval then stops after two minutes. Waterpik says that's allows 30 second for each quadrant of your mouth. I thought that would be a little much for me but I found I quickly got into the mode of brushing the right amount of time on each area. The WP-900 comes with a travel case for the brush and they make a traveling waterpik also.
Ahead two weeks later - on my second deep-cleaning visit, the hygienist commented on how great my gums looks - no bleeding or swelling and how improved my brushing was. So on that last visit, my dentist tells me he feels we may be able to go back to semi-annual cleanings. We'll see.

I really had no idea how great this product is. I have used the water pic every day, sometimes only with water, sometimes I put mixed listerine and sometimes baking soda. I have already indicated to family and friends, as it revolutionizes the cleaning of teeth.

My mouth is so happy! The toothbrush makes my mouth feel so alive. The waterpik will hopefully help my gums a lot. It took a bit to get used to using because I got water all over the first time I used it, but I have learned to control it and now I love it now.

I bought this a few weeks ago and see a huge difference in how clean I can get my teeth between and my gums. So much more of the toothpaste and food comes out that I never noticed before. I bought this because the dental hygienist recommended it as an aid to flossing, which I do not always do well. I like the Waterpik, because it feels good, is a natural adjunct to brushing with my Sonicare, it is refreshing, and leaves my mouth really clean and stimulated. It is fun to use.
