Does not recharge

I bought this product about 1 year ago and now it doesn't seem to want to recharge fully. I can brush for a little over 2 minutes and it stops. I have to brush longer due to my preponderance of building up plaque faster than most, so this feature is quite annoying. Other than that, the product works fine. Is there a battery replacement necessary or how may I address this defect?
Received this as a birthday gift as replacement for a similar product from my brother. My brother is a dentist.Love the multiple settings on the water pik and the water tank does not leak! Also the tooth brush leaves your teeth feeling clean like you just left the dental office. Even noticed I use less toothpaste with this toothbrush.Getting another one for my sons.
I've only had this Waterpik water flosser and toothbrush for a month or so, but so far I really like them both. I saw a commercial where the water flosser blasted stuff from between corn kernels, and I ordered it right after seeing that. It appears to do a good job of cleaning between teeth, but my next dental appointment in four months will tell the tale. The toothbrush has two speeds and runs for a total of 2 minutes at a time, the recommended amount of time we should spend brushing. I also like the fact that it stops for a split second every 30 seconds to alert you to proceed to the next quadrant of your mouth. I just hope that this piece of equipment lasts for a good long time! I don't think I'll be able to go back to a manual toothbrush and dental floss alone.
