Nice features but susceptible to component failure

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I purchased this unit six years ago. Within three years, the compressor failed and was replaced within warranty and promptly. The water dispenser feature has failed (perhaps because of a broken wire within the door hinge channel or communication related to the dispenser valve between the dispenser and mother board). At almost exactly six years, the compressor and condenser had to be replaced (apparently the replacement compressor was the "old" version and not a newer available version); the now-installed compressor is said to be the "new" version. Older refrigerators often lasted 10-15 years. Failures at or before 6 years are inexcusable.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

A good-looking fridge that had a compressor die just 2 years after purchase. Out of warranty. Out of luck. I'll never purchase an LG product ever again.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love everything about this fridge, but the shelves are not suited for many tall bottles. I haven’t raised one of the shelves yet and that will make the top shelf extremely close to the top. I need to play around with it, but my fridge has so much stuff it was be a big task. Most of my bottles are laying down. That’s frustrating. The ice make is good for one person. If you have a large dinner, you may have enough ice for 5 people, but no refills. The cubes are very very small and the ice capacity when full May fill a gallon jug with room to spare. Remember to buy ice. I looked at new fridges and none of them had the same features as this one.
Only for the compressor to go out and all the repair guys saying all LG are having compressor issues. Today is day after. FRIDGE STILL DOESN’T WORK!!!
