Turns out (3 weeks later when a repairman finally came) the compressor died & this was a known defect of the model. LG extended the warranty from 5 to 10 years on it. Overall, before it died, it was a good fridge. Lots of space, easy to get to items, the first time we had a fridge that had a water/ice maker with it which is a great feature.

I love the size and layout of the refrigerator. There is a lot of storage and I love the extra large drawer, however, I am still trying to figure out what the "Easy Reach" bins are for. They are so small, not much fits in them. I have had the fridge for under 5 years and had to have the compressor replaced twice. I have had the icemaker replaced 3 times and now the water dispenser on the door is not working. I am just done with this product.

The Easy Reach compartments are slightly cooler than the shelf or door bin areas, so they are a convenient place to store dairy snacks or other small items you want to keep especially cold. They are also a handy place to defrost meet. I hope you find this information helpful. ^Jennifer

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’ve had the refrigerator for 4 years And I’ve had it serviced 3 times and now that I am approaching the end of the warranty I’m worried that I made a mistake choosing LG over the competitors. When it’s working, it works great, I love the features it has.
However I can’t get passed the compressor going out at year 3 and 6 months later the condenser needed replacing. I lost a lot of money is spoiled groceries and meats.

Great look, feel and function, terrible compressor

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My wife and I have really enjoyed our LG fridge until after just three years of use our compressor went out. After looking into this further I found out that LG decided to use lower cost and lower quality components in their compressors and have had a number fail after just a few years of use. I couldn't find an LG approved repairman in my area, so I had to load the fridge in my truck and drive it nearly three hours to be repaired. Luckily it was warrantied as LG knows this is a problem with their compressors. The new compressor that was installed has stainless steel components, and should last much longer. LG corrected the situation, and we hope for better longevity going forward. I would only recommend this fridge if LG has started putting compressors with stainless steel components back into their new fridges.
