Just bought today

I bought the Galaxy s5 today expecting to be able to be more flexible with my friends that have iPhones. Sadly, this phone cannot receive emojis properly. IPhones can receive my emojis, but I can't see theirs. Really a down side for me. This phone is also kind of large, but I'm sure I will be able to adjust to it.
I hope there is an update that will fix my minor issue..
I would recommend this to a friend!

My idea of THE NEXT BIG THING!

Waterproofed would be a given.
Great screen. Decent size, and feels nice in hand.
The fact the TouchWiz interface dose a dark black or navy blue background, and white text for part of its interface is awesome. Why not all that way as an option?
The battery life for me is appalling.
Why you would imagine Samsung's product designers deciding to show the world what the NEXT BIG THING... Really is.
20000 mAh battery this would add no additional cost to manufacture. And, with the features packed in...
Would make this the NEXT BIG THING!
The l let down... from 2 feet or less first or second drop. The glass gets a chip in it. So much for gorilla three glass.
I had my S3 for over 2 years and dropped it, threw it, and tortured it. Not one mark.
Barely a fee weeks old and a chip... hmmm?
I am really disappointed in this fact.
I used a glass cutting board that I dropped hammers on, Phillips screwdrivers on, sharp scissor tips dropped with force.... and nothing.
I am now afraid this products claim might be misleading. I mean I use a wheelchair, and it falls from lap 2 feet or less to the ground and the glass chips... major letdown.
Pros: Bright display, Realistic color
Cons: Poor quality, Did not meet expectations, the glass chips at a 2 foot or less drop, battery life is appalling
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Took the Plunge
on July 6, 2014

I had an old Nokia flip phone for 5 years. I started to have a little trouble with it and moved to a Galaxy S5. Wow, what a difference. At first I was overwhelmed with all the app's, but soon conquered that intimidation. I fancy myself as a computer nerd of sorts, building my own server with capability to overcome obsolescence for some time. So, I was able to put the Galaxy through some tests that passed my tastes with flying colors. The only complaint is not enough 4G coverage. I also believe I'll upgrade my phone RAM and go for the unlimited data. A must to anyone who is contemplating buying the smart phone is a durable outside protective case (there are multiple brands out there to purchase and not expensive). If a business person or vacationing or using lots of data and thus using the smart phone a lot, purchase an extra battery with a recharger pack. This phone definitely deserves a thumbs up.
Pros: Bright display, Realistic color, Lightweight
I would recommend this to a friend!

Dear Samsung, Don't listen to the people who say to make this a "Premium Feel" product. Keep making the value proposition by adding on to what people really need.
1. You did a great thing by making it water and dust resistant. Now finish the job and put a Qi charger on the back. It will cost you very little to make that standard, and you could sell a boat load of Qi chargers. Don't make me pay extra for a back case that doesn't fit quite right. Do it right the first time!
2. Battery - Figure out a way for us to not have to charge every night. You have made the phone so thin...keep it same thickness, but add crazy long battery life. Chasing after an aesthetic that only makes it easier for the phone to break is self defeating.
3. Make it crazy fast - if you skin it with Touchwiz, you'd better make sure that it is faster than naked Android and iOS. Since it isn't, tell us how to maintain it so we can keep it fast.
4. Pictures - Allow us to mass name photos for pulling up easier. We have to scroll and scroll and scroll. Instead of differentiating with Touchwiz, make our phones so simple to use that you make Apple look complicated.
5. If you make a mini of your flagship, don't go cheap. If someone wants a mini, is it because they have a smaller hand, or want a cheaper device? If they want a cheaper device, don't call it Galaxy.
Thanks!
David

The device has good features, but if you want to use the phone look else where. when calling out or receiving calls you can only hear the other person if you use a headset or the speaker phone.
Pros: Realistic color
Cons: Poor quality, Did not meet expectations

Awful Headsets

The phone is a great device overall. But after 3 months of use I still don't understand how Samsung develop/design such a great device with such awful headsets.
At this time I prefer to use the headsets from my cellphone from 2008 than the Samsung S5 2014.
If you are going to stay still on a couch or your bed they might work but as soon as you start moving they will jump out of your ears. And I am not meaning working out, just by moving around. Running with these would be practically impossible unless you glue them to your ears.
If you are buying the Samsung S5 go for it but be ready to buy additional/different headsets!!!
AWFUL Headset Samsung!!!
Cons: headset design
