The design is nice I can hold it in my hand just the right size for large hands no problem. The performance, it's great you can do a lot thing with this phone. A lot of storage space take great pictures videos music I love all this. It's good for looking up stuff I'm not sure about or I don't know. Grate for words that I have forgotten or never knew how to spell. Overall I love this phone.
Pros: Realistic color, Bright display, Built-in speakers, Durable, Lightweight

Overall ok but dont like a few things, like how many forced apps are on the phone. Make your OS on the phone house all the neccessary things to run the phone. Dont need 30 apps you have to have to run the phone that eat up storage and data usage. Streamline it guys.
Pros: Bright display, Built-in speakers, Durable
Cons: too many need apps
I would recommend this to a friend!

S5 still a viable flagship phone

Even though a certain cell company starting with "V" is charging full retail price for a 2 year old smartphone, I still bought it. Coming from an S4 and a S4 mini, and considering an S7 (and others), I paid nearly the same price for an "outdated" S5.
The removable battery, replaceable SD card, water-resistance and feature set sealed it. Flagship phones even for someone like me who uses most of its functionality short of gaming have become overkill specmanship IMO. A 5.1" FHD screen is all the pixel density you need. The processing power is plenty for anything anyone is going to do with a telephone. Who cares about the plastic design or how thin it is when it better be going immediately into a protective case, preferably with a screen cover. A 16mp camera in a telephone is plenty, esp when it offers the shooting options this does and even the software low-light approach works reasonably vs the better newer OIS. The current 5.0 Lollipop works well, the upcoming (I hope) Marshmallow should be even better if they take their time porting it over as they seem to be doing. Battery life seems as good or better than comparable phones, fast charging times.
For me, the biggest dumbing-down came by making the voice recorder mono only, which for all my stereo uses of it (on S4s) is like making the camera black and white only. Even good aftermarket recorders have so far (in my searching) been unable to tap into the stereo mics, which continue to work well to record videos in stereo. Why???
OK, the pulse monitor and S-health are gimmicks, the USB 3.0 didn't stick, but some of the TouchWiz gimmicks are actually useful, from SmartView to IR Blaster, some air gestures, many of the motion shortcuts, the NFC features and the Samsung apps like Gallery and the media players are as good as any out there.
I've had no problems with it, nor did I with S4 and S4 mini (short battery life with Android upgrades did it in), so I expect years of service life. Just like the better PCs are kind of tapped out with horsepower and functionality for most people now, I feel flagship smartphones are approaching that point. Hey, it's a telephone first and foremost!
Pros: Bright display, Durable, functionality, camera, replaceable battery&sd card, good telephony, connectivity, good help screens
Cons: mono voice recorder, some gimmicks

Decent Phone for the price.

The S5 is a decent ohone for the price. Obviously 2 new models have come out since, but I see no real reason to trade up. The S5 performs well, with very few kinks. One would be, after putting it on "Power saving mode" the phone can act a little glitchy, but it has an easy fix...just restart it. My only other company is the bottom cover, where your charging cable is to be input...is a pain in the butt! But like I said, other than these two very minor issues, the S5 has pretty decent reliability and durability.
Pros: Inexpensive, Built-in speakers, Durable
Cons: Too big
