I switched from an iPhone to the S5 and what a great move. This phone has so much more features than an iOS device. Great performance, great display and many more...
Pros: Bright display, Realistic color, Lightweight
I would recommend this to a friend!

Some connectivity issues. (Sprint / Houston, TX)

I've noticed that this handset will switch from LTE to 3G often, sometimes staying on 3G even though I am in LTE coverage. It will require switching the phone into airplane mode and turning off airplane mode or a device reset to reacquire an LTE signal. These are issues I never had with my Galaxy S4. Also, Sprint Spark is ok when you can get it. I've tried speed tests throughout the Houston area and I can say that Sprint Spark at this point in time is sporadic and half-baked at best.
The build quality is very good. I wasn't keen on the back cover and it's dimpled design when the Galaxy S5 was introduced, but I has grown on me. I do like the back cover's matte finish vs the Galaxy S4's super slick and slippery back cover.
Pros: Bright display
Cons: Did not meet expectations
I would recommend this to a friend!

Great phone, but some of the features are useless

Clearly this is a top-of-the-line phone with great performance and amazing display. However, there are some things that set it back, mostly on the software side:
1. Too much bloatware! Immediately after I run task killer, there is still 1.0 GB being used up (and after a couple of minutes creeps up to 1.3-1.4 GB. So I'm still only left with 0.4-0.5 GB of usable memory (and by the way, total memory is 1.81 GB and not 2 GB). Given that Kit Kat has a small footprint (about 0.5-0.6 GB), and if I add in about 0.2-0.3 GB of processes from apps I have installed, the rest is bloatware. The performance is still good, but I'm worried it will deteriorate over time (just as it did with my Galaxy S3, which got painfully slow after a year.
2. Apps crash at a more-than-expected rate. Not sure why on a brand new phone with minimal Play Store apps installed apps crash. Couldn't load the camera app on a few occasions and had to restart the phone to get it working.
3. S-Health apps are pretty lame. I use fitness trackers and was psyched that the S5 would include a lot of similar functionality. Unfortunately, there is still a lot of work to be done by Samsung on that end. The pedometer is grossly inadequate (doesn't track half my steps). There is an Information screen that explains BMR, BMI, and Recommended Calories. But it just EXPLAINS it. I've entered all my data, so why can't it also CALCULATE it??
4. Can we please keep the lockscreen on for more than a couple of seconds? I have to scramble to start entering my passcode, before it turns off!
5. Fingerprint scanner. This is a big phone. It is not easy to swipe your finger across the home button, unless you hold the phone with both hands. And if it takes you 5-6 swipes to unlock it, then might as well not have that feature at all. I'll give kudos to the iPhone for not requiring a swiping motion. Makes it so much more easier.
OK, enough griping (and I probably forgot a couple of things). This is a really good phone, as I would expect any new phone to be, compared to existing or older ones. I really like that it is water and dust resistant. The screen is excellent and the battery life is better than I expected for a phone with this many features. And it charges up super fast. There are still some kinks that need to be worked out on the software side, but overall it is a good phone.
Pros: Bright display, Lightweight, water resistant!, better-than-expected battery life
Cons: Too big
I would recommend this to a friend!

Warning Camera Failed

Bought two Galaxy S5. Mine worked ok for first 2 weeks then started getting camera fail popup. A reboot would fix it at first but now it happens all the time. After playing the support game and getting no help I'm told to mail it in for a 12-14 day average turn around. Phone is less than 30 days old. I'll take them back to Sprint and exchange for HTC's.
Pros: removable battery
Cons: Poor quality, Did not meet expectations, known issues
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
