I wanted this tablet to have all my books in one place. Kindle, nook, e fbook (public domain) I have collected and purchased, and things I have written right there in one location. Not only that, but I can facebook, words with friends and surf the web. The web has been quick.
tidbits:
I am running golaucher instead of touchwhiz.
I wish that the companies would not put charging port on bottom...makes it difficult to charge and read (and that happens when you read as much as I do)
Wish speaker was not on back but on side or front would make movie sound easier to hear the film.
Pros: Bright display, Inexpensive, Realistic color, Lightweight, bright screen, quick responses, easy to read, expandable memory, easy to set up
Cons: touchwhiz laggy, poorly placed speaker, charging port
I would recommend this to a friend!

My original plan was to get an eReader to take on vacation. Then I decided I wanted something that would do more since we have only one computer at home. My husband and I are both retired and I wanted to be able to check my email, browse the internet, as well as download books from the public library (my original reason for getting another device. We also wanted something we could do most everything on when traveling. I was sold on the Samsung when the salesman said I could also use excel and word and save it on dropbox so I could access it from my computer or tablet. I was also happy to be able to set up different users. The Kindle app makes it easy to download absolutely anything from the public library. I actually prefer the android app for reading but both are great. Many of my friends still prefer a paper book but I like that I can change the font size. The lighting is great for inside reading, even dim light. Oh, and I didn't mention that the store in which I bought this product has help sessions three times a week. Talk about saving me from a great deal of frustration! And they've always been able to answer my questions. They are fabulous. I could go on, but I'll close in saying I have been happier with this tablet than I thought possible.
Pros: Built-in speakers, Bright display, Inexpensive, Durable, Realistic color, Lightweight, access to excel & word
I would recommend this to a friend!

Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 (White, 7 inch)

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 (white, 7-inch) is the first tablet I've ever owned. I had been putting off purchasing a tablet for years, but after hearing so many good things about the Samsung Galaxy line, I finally decided to finally take the plunge! After spending some time with this tablet, I can say that I'm definitely happy with the purchase. So much so that I picked up another one for my mother!
I typically use my tablet for general web browsing, music, and the occasional game. The Galaxy Tab 4 handles all of these tasks exceptionally well. Even some of the more resource taxing games are handled very well. Performance is always quick and snappy.
The form factor of the device is very nice, and the high resolution 7-inch display is beautiful. I love the IR blaster and use it often as a shutter release/remote for my DSLR camera. The 3-megapixel rear camera and a 1.3-megapixel front camera are also very nice additions. The battery life, while not phenomenal, is very good.
The only real negative thing about this tablet is the lack of OTG (On-The-Go) support. When I purchased the tablet, I assumed that it featured OTG support, only to find out that it does not. Had I known, I probably would have gone with the 8-inch version instead, as it does offer OTG capabilities.
Overall, I am pleased with this tablet and would absolutely recommend it to anyone, provided that you aren't interested in OTG support.
