Unusual smell after washing

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a nice dishwasher and does everything a dishwasher is supposed to do. It cleans the dishes quite well on the "normal" setting and is very quiet.
The only thing I don't like is the smell that comes out after I open the door when it's done washing. I can't describe the smell but it does go away after the door is open and you've put the dishes away.

Do NOT buy!!

We have have had this dishwasher a little over 2 years and have already spent half the cost of the dishwasher on replacement splash guards. And they are only $10-15 depending on where you buy them so you can figure how many times they have broke. The splash guards are installed in a location where the bottom rack will hit them, causing them to crack, causing the dishwasher to leak. We are currently looking to buy a new one since the company has no solution on how to fix a problem created by their design. And our new one will not be made by them!!
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
