Think of this as cheap insurance. I'm not great at shutting off the water supply when the washer is not in use. These hoses are far less likely to burst than standard rubber hoses. I think they are a great investment.

If you're getting your washer installed by Best Buy, buying a hose along with your purchase is a must so that you don't have to do it yourself. I'd recommend steel over rubber as there is a lower chance of problems down the road.
