I am very pleased with my purchase of this product. I read many great reviews before deciding to purchase it, and it pretty much performs to the expectations I had. This is the first steam cleaner that I have ever owned and used, and I was able to put it together myself, and figure everything out in the instruction manual. As long as you read carefully, and all the way through, the machine is very easy to put together and operate. It cleans the carpet very well...only thing I wished is that it cleaned set in stains better. Overall value and price, this is a great deal! *BE CAUTIOUS with the dirty water tank though! When you remove to empty it, make sure that it is locked back in properly, I dang near flooded the bedroom because I didn't realize it wasn't in right, and therefore wasn't sucking up the water!

What's great about it: Easy to assemble, easy to use, cleans carpet very well!

What's not so great: Ability to clean set in stains

I would recommend this to a friend!

Great Carpet Cleaner - Exceeded My Expectations

EZ to following setup and instructions. I believe it does just as good a job as a commercial rental unit. While you fill and empty the tanks more often than a commercial rental unit - it is MUCH easier to do using the Hoover. First of all - to fill it you take the cleaning solution tank OFF the unit easily and carry it to the sink. This beats pouring hot water into rental and spilling water on the rug (always seems to happen with rentals). The dirty water tank comes off easily also and empties without spilling. You can get drips off the lid which you remove to empty - so set it in the sink (I always empty into the toilet since the water is too nasty to put in your sink).

Operating the unit is very easy and the recommended motion to use spelled out in the manual is the way to go. It is light-weight for the job it does and is not all that loud (almost anyone will be able to carry it up the steps to a second floor with its front handle). It does a very nice job of extracting the water from the carpeting.

The only thing I am a bit disappointed with is the fact that the stair tool sprays water in a very wide pattern rather than matching the suction area. This is why I gave features 4 stars. For this reason you should do the steps front to back and not side-to-side. In other words, start from the back of the step and pull toward the riser. When you do this, you will have to watch how quickly the spray pattern arrives at the riser before the vacuum.

All-In-All, I would absolutely recommend this unit to anyone looking for a carpet cleaner to use in their home and have the convenience of doing as much or as little of your house as you so desire.

What's great about it: Very well designed, Easy to Use, Does a Good Job

What's not so great: Distance between solution spray and vacuum on stair tool could be shorter

love the cleaner...easy to assemble, easy to use...cleans better than any rental cleaner that I've ever used...costs less than one cleaning by professionals, but you can use it again and again.

What's great about it: Cleans carpets well...easy to use

What's not so great: all plastic...cleaners are expensive

I would recommend this to a friend!

So far So good

I bought this a few days ago and so far, so good. Very pleased with the results. I had several stains (from 2 weeks ago...sick kid) on carpet in living room and this cleaner dug down deep and removed those stains. This is the sole reason why I purchased this cleaner...I have a toddler and they make big nasty messes. I had to refill the hot water tank & empty the dirty water tank more than I would like to have, but it was well worth it. Great product, did it's job.

What's great about it: easy to set up, good price, it does what it is suppose to do

What's not so great: tanks not big enough for large rooms

I would recommend this to a friend!

I have Berber carpet and boy was I impressed!

Anyone that as ever tried to clean Berber carpet KNOWS how hard it is to get really clean even under the best of circumstances.

I have lived in this 1 Bedroom duplex for almost 4 years. I have a dog and 3 cats. In the years I have been here I have never cleaned the carpet. It was SO NASTY I was embarrassed when people came over.

I had been considering having it professionally cleaned, but even though it was 1 bedroom, a hallway and a living room, it would still have cost around $150. When I saw the sale price on this cleaner at Best Buy I figured I would try it and if it didn't work, then I could return it. :-)

It comes with 16oz of Hoover cleaner and they recommend 3 oz to the tank if you are using a pre treat for stains and 6oz if not pre-treating. I didn't have any pre-treat so I used 6oz per tank.

The hallway and the living room were first and were a total of 200sq ft. The instructions say to make 2 passes each way spraying and then 2 more each way drying. Since the hallway carpet was SO dirty I did it twice. In the living room I made 3 passes each way. I used the entire 16oz cleaning solution but the carpet was CLEAN!

Take the time after you rinse the carpet to make an additional drying pass and the carpet will dry incredibly fast. The hallway was almost dry by the time I finished the living room!

Hoover recommends using their cleaner because of the low foaming properties, but the following day I couldn't find any Hoover brand so I went to a big box home improvement store and bought the Zep for rental and home extractors low foaming solution and it cleaned the bedroom just as nice as the rest of the house.

VERY VERY nice cleaner. I really wish I had taken "before" and "after" pictures so you could be as amazed as I was at the results.

What's great about it: It cleans Berber carpeting well! Easy to assemble. Carpet drys FAST!

What's not so great: The recovery tank holds a little less than the resevoir.

I would recommend this to a friend!

I had done a lot of research on this product and found the best reviews on this steam cleaner when considering overall value, preformance, etc.

I was skeptical that it could really do that good a job but since I needed an entire 2nd floor and several pieces of furniture cleaned, I decided to buy the steam vac versus hiring a professional because I would have paid more for just 1 visit by a pro and now I can use this anytime.

I couldn't believe how easy is was to put together and to operate. The dirt it pulled from the carpets and furniture was amazing, actually disgusting!!

With two kids, a dog, a cat and a husband, I never realized how truly dirty carpets and furniture get. There weren't even many visible stains on my carpet...a lot of invisible dirt & soil that we couldn't even see!!

I would highly recommend the Hoover SteamVac to anyone looking for a carpet/upholstery cleaner.

What's great about it: how well it really cleans!

What's not so great: nothing

I would recommend this to a friend!

I owned a Hoover similar to this for 10 years. It more than paid for itself for carpet cleaning. The new one has some great improvements - I especially like the surge option...worked like a charm. I use Oxyclean for initial cleansing and then switch to the provided cleaning solution (which worked well). I took another reviewer's suggestion and used fabric softner as a rinse and really like how soft the carpet feels. Only flaw that I see is the reserve tank design. The old design had a handle that locked the tank down so you could pull the tank out with one hand (useful when you have water still in the cleaner tank and don't want to lay the handle down). This new design calls for both hands which means I have to remove the water tank so I don't lay it on it's side as it does leak a bit. Also, you have to take care to poor the dirty water out of the tank on one particular side - if you choose the wrong side, dirty water will spill out everywhere. Despite that design flaw, I still like this cleaner. Hoover definitely improved the suction and attachment design and if you take care to clean things out (especially if you have a particularly messy job (pet hair, etc.) it will last a long time. Like I said, I had my old one for 10 years - it only stopped working well because I got lazy on cleaning it out. The new design is easier to clean, too.

What's great about it: The surge option really did remove some stubborn stains, cleans great

What's not so great: don't like the new reserve tank design

I would recommend this to a friend!

Great product! Great Result

After reading the great reviews we decided to buy one and we are glad we did. It was easy to put together, easy to use and the results were very rewarding. We took one reviewer's advise and used oxi clean which we added to "awesome" cleaner insetead of using the manufacturer's solution, and as we cleaned, the dirt was gone....We added a teaspoon of fabric softener to the rinse water ( another reviewer suggested that too!) and the carpet is softer and smells wonderful. I can't wait to do the rest of the house. This was my first experience cleaning carpets and if I can do it, anyone else can too!

What's great about it: Easy to use...paid for itself in first cleaning

What's not so great: The bottom tank is a little awkward to remove but I wouldn't let that hinder you from buying one.

I would recommend this to a friend!
