Beware of Different Version Numbers of This Model

I already own the smaller 32 inch version of this same smart TV model line (UN32EH5300) and the picture quality on it is fantastic. I am very happy with that set. I recently bought this larger 40 inch version for another room based on the high picture quality of my 32 inch. Right away I noticed that the picture quality of the 40 inch was not as good as the 32 inch. I tried all sorts of different menu settings to get it to match the quality of the 32 inch to no avail. The picture on this set is quite noticeably inferior to the 32 inch. The contrast and clarity/sharpness and black levels are not as good and the colors are a bit off. The picture just doesn't pop like it does on the 32 inch. And the viewing angle range is limited. Unless you are dead center to the screen while watching, moving off axis just a bit causes the contrast and black level to degrade. The further off axis that you move the more the picture degrades. Samsung makes excellent LED panels (screens). After my purchase I learned that Samsung uses LED panels manufactured by several different companies when building TVs in this model line. The 4-digit version number of the TV indicates which panel it uses. The version number is on white label on the back of the TV. According to the version number of my 32 inch TV, its panel was manufactured by Samsung. Its picture is bright, clear and crisp with excellent color and contrast and black levels. It also has wider viewing angles than the 40 inch. The version number of my 40 inch indicates that its LED panel was not made by Samsung. Online reviews from discerning people who bought these TVs with non-Samsung-made panels were not as satisfied with their picture quality. If you are lucky enough to get one of these TVs with a panel made by Samsung you will likely love it. If you can find a TV with a 4-digit version number that begins with the letter T (such as TS01 or TS02 or TH something, it is likely made by Samsung. Any other letter will contain a panel made by someone else. Do a few Internet searches if you want to learn more details. When shopping in stores locally if you can see the product box, the version number of the set inside is listed on a sticker on the side of the box. If you order a set online you have no idea what will be shipped to you. This is my biggest beef with this set and is likely a deal breaker. This set has a few other minor quirks that I can live with (such as a poor Internet browser that cannot support current version of Flash), and if the picture quality was up to par I would keep it because it does have some nice features that work well and it is a good value otherwise. I will likely be returning this set before the return period ends. If I can find another one locally with a Txxx version number I will buy it instead. My advice is to be mindful of this version information when shopping for a Samsung TV.
Pros: Bright display, Inexpensive, Lightweight, perfect size for bedroom or den
Cons: Did not meet expectations, the tv you get may have an interior led panel, internet browser does not support current flash, some apps have no keyboard/mouse support
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Great television with awesome features. Light weight, slim design, and feature packed. Great value! I was impressed with the SmarT Tv as this is my first. Intuitive, easy to set up, and integrates well with other samsung products in our home.
The Tv was delivered to my home and I had to set it up. The initial setup was straight forward. It took me a few minutes to get the internet setup complete because my router had a challenge recognizing the TV. Once it did A whole new world of TV viewing opened up. I still haven't figured everything out, but I'll get there. What a great TV!
We have had our 40" Smart TV for about a few months now and love it. No issues or concerns at all; every feature works great! It's the perfect fit for our living-room, larger enough, but not over the top big. My wife had no clue that it allowed for surfing the web. She now is using it instead of her laptop to search for a new couch and love seat; its 40" screen allows for a much larger image for her to view. My daughter uses it for both her wii and Xbox 360, she loves it! Great for streaming movies and shows too! For us, it just right!
So far our new TV is outstanding. We had a few questions when we first bought it, but Samsung's tech. support phone people helped us with all of our questions and concerns.
