This is my first tablet but with lots of friends and family having several other tablets I have had plenty of chances to try several brands out. Samsung tablets functionality and deverse apps sold me to them. I love design and everyday is a new learning experince. I chose to get just a WiFi model since my home, school and most restaurants I choose to visit have WiFi. The only issue I have with the tablet and in which I have seen on countless other tablets is the battery life, but with some playing around with settings and a great app killer it lasts and incredible amount of time for me. So, not such a big deal but still had to be fair and give performance 4 stars for that hiccup. Overall great buy. If you can try it out.
Pros: Built-in speakers, Bright display
Cons: battery life
I would recommend this to a friend!

This is my first Tablet and it was a GREAT choice. The S pen applications need more detailed instructions to accomplish more, but for general use they are pretty intuitive. Speed and visuals are great and the Samsung apps and S suggest apps are also very useful.
Great product
Pros: Built-in speakers, Realistic color, s pen
Cons: no hdmi or usb onboard
I would recommend this to a friend!

Tested my spouses NEW IPAD for days and I own an IPhone 4s, this tablet is ahead of the curve. I use this tablet for business and communications in an Aerospace enviroment. It is proving to be very successful, the multi tasking capability is incredible. I continue to learn new ways of using this tool daily.
I bought this tablet the day it came out...THe Galaxy Note 10.1 sure has had a lot of thing to do in a more creative way.... Easy to use, responsive screen with and without S-Pen, great features, great Samsung integration,...Also like the S pen even though the experts didn't'....Computer USB will not be able to charge it. Only wall adapter capable to charge it...awesome battery life....
I would recommend this to a friend!

BEST TABLET FOR STUDENTS
on September 8, 2012

The features this tablet has that are available to students are numerous! I highly recommend it. Great screen. True=to-writing S pen makes note taking interesting. The only thing is that Samsung seriously needs to come out with a keyboard for this tablet.
Overall I'm very pleased with this tablet; performance is snappy, apps (both supplied and from Google Play) run as expected, and the front facing speakers are a plus. The S Pen is a huge plus, to the point it has probably spoiled me when it comes to buying future tablets.
The split-screen and cascading windows are a nice bonus, allowing for a level of multi-tasking which isn't common on mobile devices. While some do, I'd like to see more (third party) apps which support this feature, but that likely falls on the developers of the apps to make that happen.
There are a couple things I would have liked to have seen different, but mostly it boils down to personal preference, and neither of them are deal breakers by any means.
I'm more of a fan of dark backgrounds with white text, when it comes to menus, and the Samsung Keyboard; I find the darker setup to be easier on the eyes, especially in low-light situations. The Galaxy S phones already do this by default, but the tablet offers no option to change it.
The other thing is the screen itself. When you consider the physical size of the screen, a resolution of 1280x800 seems a bit on the low side. Likely the decision was based on hitting a price point, but I'm more than willing to accept a price increase (in a newer tablet) for a higher resolution screen. 1920x1200 would retain the same 16:10 aspect ratio while offering much more clarity. Higher resolutions have been done, but there is a point when it ceases to be practical to increase the resolution more.
Overall a great tablet that I'd recommend to anyone.

Awesome Tablet
on October 10, 2012

I purchased my new tablet about a month ago and I LOVE IT! As a first time owner of a tablet I wasn't really an expert on them however I have been in the technology field for the past 30+ years so I was confident that it wouldn't be that foreign to me.
I was pretty sure I wanted a 10.1 and after research I knew I wanted to go with an Android, so that meant that I would want the latest platform. Beyond that I was just looking for something that had the features that would fill the "wants" that I had. When I found this Samsung device I found it had the features that were important to me and I wasn't paying for features that I would not be needing. Since the purchase I have used the device a lot every day and because of that I have had to recharge the battery nearly every third day! I know as I have the device longer I will probably not have it powered on and in use nearly as frequently so the battery won't drain nearly as fast, but I just can't keep my hands off of it!
