Looks great but flawed design

I purchased the DLEX4270V dryer in 10/2016 & all was well until the past 6 months when I started noticing that my laundry was getting caught on right side of the lint screen. It doesn’t matter what type of material or the size of the load, if I do not babysit the loads, then it will get caught & become a tightly twisted mess!! I just purchased brand new bedding when this happened & caused 2 little holes where the corners of the lint filter were. No matter how much I try to push the lint screen down into the opening, it will not go down enough to prevent the laundry to get caught. I keep the lint trap clean & there is nothing that would cause it to raise up. My thoughts is that the lint screen is warped. I will go ahead & order a new lint screen & will keep my fingers crossed that I will not have this issue again. I have also questioned the drying sensors as I will change out my laundry quickly after it is done & then put in another load. I will use the cotton/normal setting (usually 50 mins on medium heat) & within 5 mins later, the dryer will do its finished chime & turn off. Then I have to reset the control again or just used the timed drying option. It had been about 2 months since I have tried to used the Static Free setting. I filled the water reservoir & it would Immediately drain & the warning tone would alert me to add water. I did this 2 more times with the one load of laundry. And the last issue...is that I cannot use the Tag On with my 8+ iPhone. I have tried several times but cannot get this dryer (along with my LG WM4270H*A that matches the dryer) to be accepted with my phone. These they only issues I have after owning this set for the past 3 years. I have not called for service as my one year warranty has expired & naturally the issues occurred afterwards.

Adequate Dryer

I have only had the dryer for about 3 weeks or so, and it seems to be pretty good so far, however the dryer appears to not be able to be leveled correctly, or the leveling feet are not set in the bottom properly, even though the level reads correctly front to back and side to side the dryer makes a squeaking and rattling noise as the clothes tumble for the first 5 or so minutes. The dryer has a sensor to check the cloths to ensure they don’t over dry – and you need to be sure the clothes you have in the load are all the same type of fabric, for instance an old dress shirt with jeans may trigger the dryer to adjust the drying time - as it does dry quicker, and the jeans will still be damp. That may be a bad or a good thing, for me it is a good thing and not a problem as I don’t mind the jeans air drying – the teenagers however find this to be catastrophic… They do get over it!

I love the ultra large capacity of this machine. A real time saver! The perm press setting is very helpful as it takes care of the wrinkles on the clothes. Very pleased with my LG set!

The interior light is a great plus! I love the many wash cycle options. The drain and spin cycle is perfect for all the towels used at the pool!! The capacity of this washer actually saves me so much time. My towels all fit in one load and still come out clean!

Exceptionally quiet

We replaced an 8-year old LG front-load washer and competing brand dryer with a new set from LG in order to give our old set to our daughter when she moved into her first apartment after college. Our primary goals for the washer were to get something quieter with a door that was not always in the way. We have had it now for about 2 months and are very pleased.
NOISE: The washer is in a laundry room off our kitchen, which adjoins our living area. The old one was annoying even with the laundry room door closed. So much so that we would not run it while watching TV. The new one, however, is so quiet that if we close the laundry room door, we don't even remember it is running until the end-of-cycle chimes sound.
DOOR: We zeroed in on this washer because of the way the door was designed. The old washer required you to leave the door open so the gaskets could drain. If you did not, they mildewed and stunk. And the door had two resting points that it moved to whenever it was left open, and both of them were in the way. Not only does the new door sit at whatever point you leave it, it also has a catch that is designed to keep it almost closed while allowing ventilation into the washer to allow it to dry out. So far, we have had absolutely no issues with the door being in the way or with smells coming from the washer due to mildew build-up.
In general, the only issue I have with this washer (and dryer) is that the tubs are so deep that it can be awkward getting all of the clothes out. This could be somewhat remedied with the pedestals, but they will not work in our current laundry room. We will definitely look at them in the future when/if we move.
Pros: Performance, Features/Settings, quiet

To compliment the frontload washer, this dryer complete the set. It dries your clothes fresh like you just bought it from the store. Lots of setting from drying delicates to towels and comforters, nothing beats this dryer. I am sold and one happy customer. !!

Very Disappointing

I bought this dryer and the matching washer. The dryer has been a great disappointment. The main problem is that it has sensors on the automatic cycles and LG's idea of very dry is my idea of too damp to put in the closet or drawer. When I spoke with customer service (in India) about this, they said that since items aren't uniform, it senses the dryest ones and shuts off based on this. If you mix a load, this results in damp items in the load and who doesn't mix loads in a dryer this size? I am now running everything manually on speed dry, which does not use the steam feature but dries the clothes. The steam feature is another disappointment. You have to manually fill a plastic container with water ever few uses. At this price, you'd think they would have put a water connection in but there is none. When I tried to use the steamfresh cycle to takes wrinkles out of a pair of pants that I was planning to wear for an evening out, it did remove the wrinkles but the pants were soaking wet. When I tried to dry them, they came out more wrinkled than before I started. The same customer service rep, who was not at all familiar with the machine and was reading from a manual, told me I had to put five items of clothing the same weight into the dryer for this feature to work. This is ridiculous and not a convenience. These appliances look very nice and that is why I feel I was taken in. If I had it to do again, I would have kept my ten year old bottom of the line washer and dryer and replaced them with the same when they broke. They worked just as well for a lot less money.
