Love it!

This washer works so well, it saves me electricity on dryer. Seriously, I can wash my towels , jeans whatever & they dry in 1/4 of the time that they used to from my old washer. This washer wrings the water out so well that the clothes almost feels dry coming out of wash! The clothes seem to be cleaner too! I didn't think I would like the new front loaders, but I LOVE it!
Pros: Performance, Style/Design, easy to use, Features/Settings, Quality, wrings water out better
I would recommend this to a friend!

Not happy with this washer

I had an LG before, so thought I'd be especially happy with this one. For a machine that is this expensive with all the bells and whistles, I expect better performance. It seems to overflow at the drop of a dime (even with half a load and a very small amount of soap) and will leave clothes soaking wet, forcing me to run it again. On top of that, the "smart app" does not work at all, so diagnosing the machine with the app doesn't work. Calling the help line gets me advice about using less soap and/or doing smaller loads. I'm down to using almost no soap and yet I can't do an average-sized load without water coming out of the air vent onto the floor. When it does work, the clothes come out really clean, but I didn't pay this much to have water all over the floor on a regular basis unless I do what would be an average load in another machine. I could have paid less, bought an average-sized machine and not had to mop the floor every other day.

Stuck on Turbowash - Don't Buy
on August 14, 2015

Worked great first few months until I tried the Turbowash. Now the normal and heavy duty cycles are stuck on TW & the permenant press cycle is defaulted to TW so you have to manually turn it of eveytime. The TW is an option that I had to add the first time I used it. I did not like it as the clothes felt & selled like the detergent was not rinsed out completely. I use an approved HE liquid and only 1/2 of the amount the dispenser calls for. I was told by the serivce repair person that they could not fix it as LG customer sevice says that it is supposed to function that way. I spent 1 1/2 hours on the phone with customer service myself and was finally told that once youuse the TW for the first time it is DESIGNED to stay on and you can not turn it off, and that they would not repair it. The owners manual states that TW is an option that you can add when you want and nowhere does it state that it will stay on. Now instead of pressing 2 buttons to start a normal load I have to choose a different cycle, adjust the water temperature, the spin speed and the soil level before starting a load.

Satisfied Purchase

I did a lot of research before purchasing this washing washer. I previously had a top load agitator washer for the past 20 years. I had a learning curve to understand the features and how to use this washer for the first week. Ease of Use: The dashboard looks complicated with all the features and options. Because the buttons don’t line up exactly with the dashboard, I thought I had to adjust the many options for each load. Then I realized it’s actually very easy. Simply chose the fabric you’re washing (i.e. towels, cotton, delicates) and the washer adjusts the water temperature, spin speed, and soil level. You are able to override these presets. The washer automatically adjusts the water level, so you don’t have to worry about that. You use very little soap; the average full load is less than 4 tablespoons of soap. There is a guide built in the dispenser to help with this. Apparently it is very bad to use too much soap, so less is always better. Sound: Some reviews I read stated that this washer is quiet. I don’t find that it’s any quieter than my old top load agitator washer; however, my top load washer sounded more like white noise with more of a consistent sound though it was loud. This LG is just as noisy but it makes different unique sounds throughout during the cycle. When it washes it sounds like whooshing which you can’t hear unless you are nearby; when it gears up to spin – it sounds like an airplane engine starting up in the distance; when it’s spinning full speed, you can definitely hear it, expecially when spinning on high. I don’t think I could sleep with the washer running even though my bedroom is not located near the washer. That others think this LG model is quiet is a mystery to me. Perhaps mine is defective, but it is working fine and does its job. Quality: Clothes come out clean and fresh despite using very little water. It’s nice to have different options of fabric to choose from. This model has a steam function along with allergen and sanitary. I don’t have issues with allergies, but it’s nice to be able to get the sheets super clean if you want to. Sanitary would be a must if you have a baby. The door is solid and well built. Time: It doesn’t seem to me that it takes too much longer to do a load than what I was used to with the top loader. The nice chime after the load completes is helpful. Pedestals: I couldn’t afford the expensive pedestals when I bought the washer, but I am glad I didn’t not purchase then. If you have bad knees, then it’s needed as you will need to bend down to get the clothes out of the washer into the dryer, but if they are right next to each other, you only bend once. Also, without the pedestals, the washers are low enough that you can use them as shelves to fold laundry, store soap, etc. I keep the soap right next to the soap dispenser and the other area for folding laundry. Maintenance: This washer will have maintenance compared to a top loader. If you don’t want to have to deal with mildew, it is recommended that after you conclude washing for the day that you wipe the seal and door. I keep microfiber rag on the washer which makes it handy. One of the selling points of this LG is that it has a magnet that keeps the door cracked open so that it can dry inside. The soap dispenser always leaves some water in it so I just keep it open until the next load. It is also recommended to clean the tub monthly. You can buy specific tub cleaners. Over all I am pleased with the purchase I made. Since this is an older model, I received a great deal. I am not sure why, but laundry is more fun.

Great washer, quiet, efficient and worth the price

I have owned this product for over a month now and hav nocom plants. The 4.3 CuFt capacity is large enough for a king size comforter. The turbowash feature is a great time saver and have no reason to use the wash without it. I fined it distributes the soap more evenly than the wash with out it. Clothes get clean with less wash time. The large number of options allow you to customize your wash easily. Clothes come out clean and in good condition no matter the fabric type or wash cycle. Truly a great machine.

My parents washer 40 years ago was better

I own this washer for less than 2 years and the entire inside gasket is pitch black with mold/mildew. Nothing cleans it. I tried scrubbing it with bleach, with vinegar, running the tub wash cycle doesn't work. I called the help desk and they said you have to wipe down the machine after every use. My parents washing machine 40 years ago didn't need to do that. I purchased an LG machine for the quality and ease of use. Now I have to replace the gasket.
