Great phone, software could use some work

The only qualms I have about the physical device are the material the back is made of, and the physical and capacitive navigation buttons. The back is very reflective and slippery and it is thus very visible if there are any dents or scratches in it. This is not a huge issue as there are replacement back covers with different textures. I just wish it had a more coarse grippable texture and wasn't so reflective.
The capacitive buttons server their purpose and work well, however they make the device difficult to hold in landscape for gaming/movies. In my opinion they should have gone with the on screen buttons present in the galaxy nexus, but I understand some people prefer physical buttons.
The biggest negative to this device is the TouchWiz UI. It looks pretty awful with flat hues of various colors swapped out for the fairly well put together and stylish android stock UI. In addition to this there are a number of features, that while interesting, add little to the device. All in all the TouchWiz UI just slows down the process of android updates making it to the device. If I couldn't run cyanogenmod on the device, I wouldn't have purchased it. If the theming isn't an issue for you, then by all means it's a great device and the software doesn't get in the way too much, just don't expect updates for at least 4-8 months after they come out, if ever.
All in all it's a wonderful device and I'm happy with it. The screen is the best AMOLED display yet, and trumps anything I've seen on any other phone. It doesn't have the graininess at low brightness issue like the galaxy nexus and previous displays either. I highly recommend it if you're looking for a solid android device, or a great phone in general
Pros: fast, screen
Cons: software, back cover material
I would recommend this to a friend!

Awesome Phone, But Gorrilla Glass Is A Joke
on June 25, 2012

This phone is BLAZING fast!!! I've already installed over 100+ apps (and counting) and it has yet to show any signs of slowing. The Super AMOLed screen is gorgeous beyond belief. The responsive for all touch motions is very fluid, sometimes TOO fluid. The onboard storage and RAM are more than enough, even for a power user like myself. The camera is on par with any other I've experienced, and has some neat features that give it some uniqueness. Audio is loud and crisp. And internet speeds, bo0th Wi-fi & mobile, are swift. My only gripe is the herald Corning Gorillla Glass 2. it is nice, pretty, and easy to clean. But despite all the hype about is toughness and claims of it passing all the unconvential damage test, I find it very brittle. The glass terribly failed a fall from my lap to only a foot down to my tile floor. There were no scratches, dents, etc. Only cracks on the glass. The actual LCD screen behind is still gorgeous and flawless. Drop tests from various tech sites suppport this claim. Due to the everday dangers our devices are up against, AND the false claim that this glass is highly durable. I had to deduct one star from the overall score. Other than that, the phone is the epitome of awesomeness.
Pros: Bright display, Realistic color, Lightweight, great preformance, aweesome features
Cons: poor glass quality
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I had this phone for two days and on the first day the glass screen shattered, and that was only by falling about 6 inches into a wooden table flat on the screen, it just shattered. the glass is just too weak other than that the phone itself is great.
Pros: Built-in speakers, Bright display, Lightweight
Cons: Poor quality, Did not meet expectations
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Good Phone

I think it's a good phone. The screen being so dim outside is almost a deal breaker.
In bright sunlight the phone is unusable.
Pros: Lightweight
Cons: screen is too dim

Works well - most of the time

I had to replace my Infuse when it met its unfortunate end in the Pacific Ocean. This phone has an excellent screen and nice media features, and I am not experiencing the battery life issues that others have. My problem is that the phone occasionally loses its connections with the data and voice networks. Rebooting or turning the radios off and on with airplane mode will fix it, but only if I notice and take action. If I don't notice the problem I can be disconnected and miss phone calls for hours.
Pros: Built-in speakers, Bright display, Realistic color, good camera for a phone
Cons: connectivity issues, expensive if you must pay full price
I would recommend this to a friend!

Samsung Galaxy S III over promises but under delivers.

I was extremely pleased, after reading all about the soon-to-be-released S III, to be one of the early owners. Imagine my surprise when some characteristics of the phone preclude me from recommending it.
1st, I am NOT a super phone-techie guy, I have some familiarity with some of the smart phone features but am no way a phone geek. So, I am frustrated when I can't type a word and have it displayed on the screen exactly as I type it. Some words don't make it through Samsung's restrictions while typing. For instance, I wanted "re:". Couldn't get it. Had to close what I was typing, go into the "my words" section and add the word, then go back to whatever I was typing. A MUCH easier solution would have been to have some combination of buttons or punctuation available to kill the predictive wording temporarily.
2nd, I am not satisfied with the camera -- at all. Putting every function on "automatic" leaves me with "flat" shots and poor color. Nothing like what it seemed I should be able to generate.
3rd, I am unable to see anything on the screen when I am outside. The problem exists regardless of whether I have sunlight over my shoulder, shining directly on the screen, or off to one side, NOT shining at all on the screen. Even with brightness set to max level, items on the screen are barely recognizable.
There is more, a lot more, but I think this is a good starting point.
Pros: Built-in speakers, Durable, Lightweight
Cons: Did not meet expectations
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
