Love this dehydrator

Bought it 3 years ago and use it every weekend for fruit. never misses a beat, easy to clean and love that i don't have to rotate the shelves because heat source is at the back. I was nervous about if i would really use it or how well it would work, so didn't want to invest $200 for 5 shelf. i now buy all the fruit i want and what i don't eat i dehydrate on the weekends. My kitchen smells yummy. I bring dried fruit to work every week and people think it's candy.
Perfect for a beginner or single person. If i was buying now i would get the 5 shelf with timer and totally invest $200+

First 2400 4 tray I ordered was built so poorly and out of square that the door got caught in every try and could barely get it open and shut. Was sent a replacement unit also had similar issues. I took them both apart and inside they were not put together the same and parts were even loose in 1. I can’t speak to the quality of the more expensive units but the 2400 is not worth the money. Currently waiting on a 3rd unit to arrive. Haven’t gotten to dehydrate a thing yet.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I bought my first Excalibur over 20 years ago. The heater finally died this summer after years of heavy use. Of course, I replaced it with a new Excalibur. Looking forward to another 20 years of dried herbs, fruit, and jerky.

Just bought the 4-tray model and right out of the box found the door would not properly slide shut. Realized that mounting screws holding the fan in place were protruding thru the back and pushing the lower tray forward, making it impossible to close. Cannot believe how cheaply this unit seems to be made when I've believed this brand to be of better quality. I'm not impressed at all. And trying to contact the company also seems impossible.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Incorrect tray size listed

In the feature description for the 4 tray dehydrator, it says the trays are 15 x 15. I ordered this unit to use with silicon mats previously purchased and used with a 9 tray excalibur. In fact the 4 tray dehydrator has trays that are only 12 x 12. I would not have ordered it if the correct measurements had been given

Perfect me a small kitchen or single person/couple

It's just the right size for a small kitchen and for a couple or single person. Having a wonderful time creating fun things - if you don't already follow Markus Rothkranz the raw foods guy - start. I'm not 100% and don't really intend to be but having my 4 tray means I can make many of his recipes -- my favorite being the coconut naan bread. I also like that it's not very loud, just a pleasant hum like a fish tank
