Broke in 8 months
on January 21, 2014

These headphone sound really good but don't get them. They broke in 8 months. I called the service center and they said that most likely it won't be fixed under warranty because it's not a manufactures defect. the design on this headset was very pour as far as the structure is concerned. plastic bracket broke and headphones are dangling, do not get these headphones they will break. Very disappointed with this product.

It's like having a subwoofer strapped to your head
on September 27, 2012

When I went to pick them up I was excited. But not as excited as when I put them on and heard them. I was screaming like a little girl which got a pony for her 8th birthday! The sound quality far exceeded my expectations. If you have a PS3/ PS Vita, its the best accessory you can get if you are serious about sound. The Bassimpact feature makes a gigantic difference in the experience of gameplay and your music. They are incomparable! Nothing on the market beats it!
What's great about it: Very comfortable, great premium feel, great sound quality, Amazing bass.
What's not so great: you have to charge them every once in a while.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Broken ear pods
on September 11, 2013

While this headset delivers top quality and excellent surround sound, they broke after 7 months. Both plastic silver rings that hold the ear pods to the head strap broke on both sides. No, I do not abuse my gear, nor do I drop or throw them. I would love to purchase another set, but not until this weakness is corrected. Will load pics when I get home.

Been gaming online a lot with a friend. I have the previous model (CECHYA-0080) and now the new, which I've had just under a week. The Bass Impact sounds nice but, at higher levels can be sometimes a bit much and, with it off, doesn't quite have the same bass surround as the previous model. Perhaps a "Bass Surround Volume" slider should have been implemented as well. I like the overall quality and solid feel of the new set but, after a few hours of playing, I find myself readjusting frequently. (1) The head pad now split into two narrow head pads tend to dig in and irritate. (2) Less flexibility due to the sturdier quality making it tighter on the ears, pressing and rubbing more on the inner cartilage, and a little less room for the ear, could do with slightly larger ear pads with a deeper pocket or do away with the angled speaker design to gain a little more room, I don't think it'll make much difference in sound quality and presence. (3) When chatting with a friend online while playing, it's that much harder to hear myself speak, let alone without game sound. If you've ever tried talking without hearing yourself, it makes you feel like you're not speaking correctly. With the previous model, although feeling cheaper in quality, they feel more comfortable over hours of play with less adjustment, I can hear myself when talking while still feeling immersed in sound without any outside interruptions. If the newer set were more comfortable, I wouldn't have put a second thought on chat. (4) Being that these headsets are more for gaming, I feel the use of a "Mode" button is not necessary. It already has a "Virtual Surround Sound" (VSS) button, like the previous pair, to switch between 'Stereo' for music or normal listening and 'VSS', 7.1 surround for games and movies, so a "Mode" button feels redundant just for a subtle change in equalization. (5) Keeping in mind that you will at some point need to charge them while using, especially for gamers, you'll find that the usb charge port points straight down from the bottom of the left ear piece while being worn. This is not really an issue and probably not worth mentioning but, the usb cord coming out of the bottom will be pressing slightly on the front of your shoulder. This could cause a problem in the future, possibly wearing out the usb port in the headphones from being moved or getting caught. There's work-arounds so not really a big deal.
Overall, they are better quality but not very comfortable. I love and own many Sony products and meant only for this review to help Sony make the next pair better. This is only my opinion and you may feel otherwise.
What's great about it: Sound is a little more crisp and clear than the previous model (CECHYA-0080). Hidden mic.
What's not so great: Dual narrow head pads. Tight on ears. Can barely hear myself speak.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Not very good

The headphones are pretty comfortable but the battery in it is horrible, I have to have it plugged in to a power outlet while playing a game because the battery does not last but about 2 hours. I really wished I would have gotten some wired head phones instead.

second time it broke on me
on December 30, 2013

The older version did not break on me. The pulse elite broke after 2 months of use. Then I sent it in and they sent me a new one and that one broke after 3 month. I keep it plugged into my computer so it will be charged. I use it mostly on my PC.
