The light sensor to prevent falls is way to sensitive and stops every time it see's a dark color and won't do any of our area rugs. Their is no way to turn it off, I live in a bungalow with no drops. So sad this used to be a great product.
Pros: Easy To Install
Cons: Fall sensors are a major issue, Needed Customer Service Help
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

What a workhorse!

We received Merry as a Christmas gift so we have had her (model 650) for less than a week. We have 5,500 sf on 3 floors and 3 Shelties which means we need to vacuum more than once a week. Merry has changed our life overnight. She has been vacuuming 3 different large rooms daily and we are now starting on round 2 of the house. We sometimes have to recharge her after 2 large rooms and do a 3rd room later. In a large area (eg: dining room, foyer, hall and bathroom) when she does not have direct line of sight to the base station, she occasionally cannot find it when she needs to dock to recharge. Otherwise, she returns to her base station when she is done and I find her happily recharging. She does a great job transitioning from area carpets with long fringe to hardwood and from hardwood to marble. Her wheels are a little squeeky on marble, ceramic tile and hardwood but not a big deal. She works diligently to get under and around all furniture and has not gotten stuck yet. I do pull some furniture out a bit from corners/walls, tilt chairs against the dining room table to widen the spaces between the pedestal legs and chairs, pick up thin electrical cords (eg: for cell phones)and pick up any small items. We are impressed with how she vacuums every square inch multiple times and how tenaciously she cleans around every leg, the corners and the baseboards. With long haired dogs, the brushes need to be cleaned after a few rooms. Cleaning the brushes is immensely easier than my cyclone vacuums and takes a few minutes. The dust bin has not filled up yet since we empty it after a few rooms. She handles herself beautifully at the edge of steps and has not had a fall. The dogs bark at everything else in our life but we have not heard single bark at Merry and they are only mildly curious and keep their distance. My husband's allergies are benefitting with less dust and no need to try to plan to vacuum when he is out of the house anymore. Merry vacuums when he is home at times and he has had no allergic reactions like he does with our other vacuums. There are only a few places I will need to get out the vacuum wand to reach. So, now while Merry works I can spend time at the gym enjoying a group cardo or dance class instead of vacuuming! Wow! History Channel 2 just featured the Roomba as #98 of "101 Gadgets That Changed The World" while I was writing this review.

I have two Discovery's and a Dirt Dog, which have been great. The 650 is a big step up, primarily due to the Aerovac bin, which holds more, picks up more and keeps the brushes cleaner. The brush assembly is much better sealed against dirt as are the wheel assemblies. I'm anticipating this Roomba will be trouble free for a very long time.
Pros: Cleans Effectively, Cleans Under Furniture, Easy To Use, Hassle Free Operation, Large Debris Bin, Long Run Time, Quiet

Had the Roomba for about 2 years now, mixed review

I've had the Roomba 650 for about two years now. I had no idea when I purchased it that it would take constant -- I mean like after every use -- cleaning. If you don't want to spend $100s on replacement parts, you really need to get the brushes and everything clean all the time. I didn't realize I'd have to be a slave to this Mr. Robot to keep it working. If I wanted to put that much work into cleaning, I would have used my regular vacuum and performed the easy canister cleaning instead with the regular maintenance. I do feel that the Roomba design is a great idea, but the aforesaid cleaning issue. The fact that the bin comes out during regular cleaning all the time catching on furniture, it gets lost. Sometimes it does a whole room, sometimes the whole house, never consistent. It regularly does not get back on the charger. I have a small home, this seems to make it harder for it to clean. It bumps on everything darn thing and makes a tremendous racket. It's really good for everything cleaning, but doesn't really pick up the pet hair as I had hoped. In sum, I should be less lazy and get out my regular vacuum. I bought this to save time and money with a housekeeper, but have to spend far too much time getting my hands dirty cleaning this darn thing that gets off track, lost, bin falls out, etc., to make it worth the cost of the unit and the new replacement parts.
Pros: Long Run Time
Cons: Difficult To Clean, Misses Spots, Noisy, Small Debris Bin
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Still loving it

I have had my robot for 1 1/2 yrs now. I still absolutely LOVE it. We have 2 shedding dogs and 5 kids that run in and out with lots of dirt and hair. I run it everyday and am still amazed at how much it picks up. I have it set to run in 2 room automatically. I change the filter and brushes often just to make sure to maintain it. It sometimes hits the furniture a little hard, but hasn't damaged anything. I have a very large home and wish I had another just to use upstairs. It has definately cut down on my cleaning time. I really do love it!
