Roomba is here to stay!

I think it is over-priced. That's why I waited so long to purchase. Can't imagine buying the top of the line! Am happy to have it now. No more twisting, pushing, & pulling behind a heavy vac. Turn it on and go do something else. In a 3500 sq. ft. house, it is a welcome appliance.
Pros: 3" space allows it under furniture, Amazingly clever, Cleans along baseboard, Cleans fur & cat litter, Clear maintenance booklet, Easy To Use, Picks up horrid faux lady bugs!
Cons: Can close door of room & get stuck inside, Doesn't "really" clean fine dust well, Fussy to open & clean parts, Likes to redo some areas more than others, Noisey on wood/tile

Roomba Changed My Life!

I have bigtime allergies & two shaggy dogs. This is my first Roomba & now have used it for about six months. It works for about an hour on each charge, does a great job of picking up pet hair & dirt. It's simple enough for my five-year-old to operate. Observations: 1. The Roomba only needs about 3.5 inches of overhead clearance on a bare floor, so it can get under beds, dressers, and chairs that other vacuums can't reach. It will clean along baseboards & under radiators. 2. The diameter is about 14" & it will pivot its way around, say, chair legs that it can't fit through. 3. It bumps against things gently, but the hard plastic case can scuff and mark furniture. I have stuck felt pads around the perimeter of my Roomba & that helps a lot. 4. The Roomba likes to be kept tidy itself. With every use, clear the dust bin, filter, brushes & wheels. Change the filter & brushes frequently for maximum efficiency. A clean Roomba is a happy Roomba.

So easy

My mom got this for me right before my son was born, I was skeptical at first but after using it my mind was changed. I have 4 dogs and two very messy toddlers. My kids love chasing the dang thing as well lol it is a bit noisy and gets stuck at my sliding door but all in all it's very useful and I am pleased with it.
Pros: Easy To Empty, Easy To Use, Efficient
Cons: Noisy

I have 3 dogs and I was vacuuming everyday, as I am a real "neat freak". I had just vacuumed with my Dyson an hour before the Roomba arrived. I used it that evening and was amazed at what the Dyson had had left behind!! I use it everyday in the family room, which is where we spend the majority of our time. I wish the battery lasted longer so it would do the whole house at once. I use the virtual wall and a box in the doorway (I will be ordering another virtual wall)to confine it to each room, so it completes a room before needing to be re-charged. The other con is that I have eight chairs in my dining room and the table has 2 pedestal bases, so Roomba can't get under the whole table. When I want it do a complete cleaning in the DR, I have to move the chairs out. But,since we seldom use the room, it doesn't need to be cleaned as often. Overall, I love my Roomba. It has given me back some valuable time. It goes right back to it's dock when it cleans the room with the dock, but in the other rooms the battery dies and I have to re-dock it. No biggy. I am loving this little robot!!

OMG!This little guy just does his business while I use my energy and time on something else. I've got a lot of floor to keep clean. Dark wood that shows dust easily. No dry mop cleans like this guy. He finds dust where I just mopped, so I give up and let him handle it. Noisy, but it does help when he turns a corner and heads into another room because I can hear he's still doing his job

Can't live without it!!

I bought one of these about 8 months ago and I am amazed at how much I love it! My floors always look great! I run my Roomba every day using the scheduler while at work, and then when I get home I often run it again in a different room. I bought one for my sister for her birthday and she is thrilled since she has a few cats. Does a great job on my wood floor and on carpet. I have replaced the brushes once and the side brush once. I cant live without it now! the only downside is that it is loud. My next purchase will be a Scooba. I cant wait!!

Didn't think about cleaning the roller ball underneath but actually gets a fair amount of hair, threads wrapped around it. Easy to pop out and use a hemostat or tweezers to pull debris off of it. Love the blue dust catcher. Use an old toothbrush to clean that twice a week. It is amazing to see the amount of dirt, dust, and cat hair we were living with before Alfred was purchased. Feel so much healthier, less sneezing now. Alfred is programmed to clean Mon-Friday. The cliff sensor really works, though it is worrisome to see him go full speed towards steps and then suddenly stop when he senses the edge. He is a bit noisy but generally am not home when he is doing his work. Gets stuck oddly around 5x7 shag rug at least once a week. I try to think about putting some shoes around his trouble spots before I leave for work and that seems to help. He can't vacuum up hard cat food pieces. And still have to go around to corners of room once a month or so to get dust bunnies on side of baseboards. Would be nice if he had a section on upper outside area to pull things off the corners of walls at the baseboard height. Alfred has made our home much more pleasant. Thank you I-Robot team.

I received it for Hanukkah from from my grandchildren, ages 2 and 4. What smart little boys! I've seen the Roomba for years but always pooh-poohed it as being kind of silly! It is NOT!! It's a real honest to goodness work horse. Last night I gave it its first job. I just clicked the CLEAN button, and it went and went and went... for an hour and a half, all over our 1100sf 5 room first floor. I think it couldn't find it's way out of our large back room which is mostly full of storage, sewing tables, excercise equipment, etc., so next time I'll close that door and do the room separately... It did a great job there even so! After returning it to the living room it made another pass or two and then obediently went to its docking station to sleep until needed again. I wasn't sure it could find it as it's tucked out of the way by a Grandfather clock, but it did! I think the battery life is about 90 minutes, because it took it upon itself to head "home." This morning I did the living room again so I could luxuriate in watching someone else work! Right now it's locked in my bedroom and I won't let it out till it finishes! Of course it can't go where it can't fit, so I decided two things were necessary: 1. Move my recliner about two inches so it could get under the side table, and 2. put a large footstool out of the way on cleaning days! OK... so it doesn't do stairs... is that really a CON... let's get real here! My very expensive built in vac system doesn't do stairs either. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the Roomba. What a cool gift.
