Blade base cracked

Blender model BL2010WG seemed a good buy. However, the base of the blade, made of PVC, cracked the first time the blender was used to make a vegetable smoothie! I am looking forward to buying that part and make use of the blender because everything else looks alright.

Beware of the plastic base

I have owned this blender for a few years and couldn't figure out why the liquid kept leaking out of the bottom. I found that the plastic that holds the blade was cracked. This sounds like a common problem with other consumers. B&D should have recalled this product. They need to make the base of the blade stainless just like the blades to hold up to everyday use.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

It works... until it doesn't

I recently got this product as a gift from my parents about a month ago and it already has two major flaws after only making smoothies with it a couple of times. The gasket that goes on the bottom of the blending area has already been chipped and the bottom little plastic part that goes on top the spinning metal knob on the base completely split in half. I had to go borrow a blender from someone else because I didn't have another blender laying around. As a person who has used B and D products before, I would not recommend this one.

'good enough'

we have used this blender mostly for blending soup and making smoothies (w/o ice). we like the glass jar and the base seems solid. it has not worked well for pesto or recipes without lots of liquid. while we don't use it often, it is an appliance that we rely on...so when the gear 'element' made of plastic cracked while blending a soup, I was left to pull out the masher.
this little plastic gear connection from the base to the blade in the jar is something that is not available as a replacement part...can you find that part from a model whose motor is not functioning? as long as the motor works, I would like to continue using this 'good enough' model : ). thanks, n
