Sturdy workhorse

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My mum had a patisserie when I was younger and, not coincidentally, I grew up with a kitchenaid artisan mixer. When I moved out, I realised that I had taken it for granted all those years, and found it somehow unsatisfying to work with other stand mixers. It took me a few years to reach a point in my life where I could get my own, but here I am.
Well it definitely does not disappoint! It's very sturdy and takes on any task with ease. First thing I tried making was bagels. I had given up making bagels because the dough was too stiff and I didn't enjoy kneading it by hand. Whelp! The kitchenaid didn't mind and next thing you know I was pulling delicious sesame bagels it of the oven! I feel like I cheated somehow. Next, I made English muffins and discovered they taste about 100x better home made than store bought. Then I made a rum-soaked whipped cream in about a minute and finally, a parisian flan where the mixer tackled shortcrust pastry just as easily as it mixed my creme patissiere.
I have not bought any of the additional attachments, I was able to make all that quite happily with the 3 attachments that came with the mixer.
Needless to say I'm about to get very fat because this mixer can do everything quickly and I have a lot of fun using it. It gives me a strange sense of comfort to hear its low purring as it works - maybe because it reminds me of my mum's kitchen. I'm going to attempt my first pavlova next. Wish me luck. But I won't knead it ;-)

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received my machine for Christmas and love the heavy duty features except when beating for cake I find the mixture does tend to sit in middle bottom part of bowl. I have to manually scrape the mixture to side of bowl then continue the beating

I had never made a pav before so I can’t tell you how delighted I was when presenting my first chocolate and raspberry pavlova to the family!!
