not user friendly for begginers. instructions confusing and difficult to undersand. NEAT SCANNER more user frienly and easier to navigate and produce reports with.

doesn't work with Mac

Very disappointed. Preview function does not work with a MAC. Only does basic scanning, most functions do not work with MAC. Even though they advertise that it is compatible.

Good device

I got the DS 30 as a gift. My home office is a nightmare of papers at any one time and my wife thought it would be a good idea for me to digitize papers, receipts, business cards, bill statements, and the like. So that everything would be easily accessible and out of site! She was right. This device rocks - it is compact and easy to transport. One negative - a software issue. One of the installed components, ABBYY fine reader, seemed to prevent Word 2013 from launching - I am using a PC running Windows 8. Once I uninstalled this component, the scanner software worked fine and Word has run normally.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I have stopped having to go to the copier/scanner and wait my turn. The DS-30 is a simple time saver and very easy to use. My employer tried to pay for mine, but I also use it at home so I told her to buy them for the office if she liked them. Maybe next years budget.

Just received this scanner. My overall rating is excellent -
* Easy to load program and set-up with my laptop.
* Easy to feed and scan documents.
* Exactly what I need for household records.
* Love the 0.7 lbs and the ease to carry with me wherever I go.

I did not realize this machine would not scan pictures "on the go".
Also, if a document is multi-sided or there are more than one page to be included as ONE document, I cannot do that with this scanner.
Why don't you "invent" a portable scanner SPECIFICALLY for pictures. Many people are involved with genealogy...and this would be a tremendous benefit.

Epson mobile scanner is my sanity saver

Best invention since computers. The Epson mobile scanner is the size of a 3-hole punch and a fraction of the weight. I've been scanning and organizing 50+ years of accumulated photos and documents. Color and print come out clear and true to the original. Scanning is easy and fast. It's so much easier and enjoyable to view the results on screen than in albums, boxes or file cabinets. The only improvement I'd recommend is to make the continuous feed a bit less sensitive.
I hate clutter and getting all this stuff onto a gizmo the size of my thumb (thumb drive) is a wonderful sanity saver. Everyone should get one.
