DS-30 software

The DS-30 seems to be fine in regard to its hardware, but in comparison to the similar ScanSnap unit, the software is very deficient. No multiple pages, weak feedback, unclear options, totally missing documentation for the more recent OS X versions, etc.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I replaced a pandigital scanner that is no longer made. I had confusion at the store about the operating system requirements. The store signage said it was not Mac compatible but the Epson website said it was. I am disappointed that I can not just scan one picture after another. Also, no memory card slot so I can't sit at my desk and just scan. It is slow, the setup instructions are wrong. After setting it up I found a note telling me to go to the website for mac software. Very disappointing

I bought this item for my home business so that I can keep my business receipts organized. So far I am happy with how this item is performing and really happy at how easy it is to store and organize my receipts.

Epson scanner

Debated whether to get the epson or the neatworks. I had used a neatworks before and loved the portablity. This is just as nice--does a great job. Resolution is the same as neatworks. the cost was the deciding factor.

Amazing Product

I purchased the portable scanner to scan over 300 typewritten pages from the 1970's into toe computer to make them editable in a digital format. I have a flatbed scanner and it could not do this. Originally I tried the Epson making PDF files - they did not work very well - hard to read and would not convert to a Word file.
Then I tried scanning into the computer using the Epson Scan program and then used the Abbyy FineReader program and I was astounded - it made almost a perfect 100% conversion. A real astounding program that ;ets you select brightness, contrast and text emnhancement - Epson File Scan is great and the scanner is great!!!

Great Tool for the Road

I bought and started using my scanner immediately after purchasing. It is very intuitive, but I know there are better ways to accomplish my tasks. The online manuals, however, are not very helpful nor are they easily searchable. I have a new laptop that does not have a CD drive and so far cannot find an answer to how to download the driver onto that laptop. In the meantime, I am using a different laptop.

Nifty Scanner

This scanner is being used in conjunction with my machine embroidery program and it is great to take with me so I can scan in a picture to turn it into an embroidery design. It is a TWAIN scanner which my program requires. It does not need a separate power source so it can be used anywhere, anytime. Its small size makes it very easy to transport in my computer bag.
I would recommend this to a friend!
