Cools just fine, but another problem

I recently purchased this unit. While it cools well, the compressor's high pitch noise is so irritating, it is totally distracting and annoying. The user manual calls this a "normal sound". That's nonsense. How can such a high-pitched noise be normal. A technician was sent last week and I'm awaiting a response. This is not a cheap purchase and the noise is totally unacceptable.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I bought 2 of these air conditioners and had them installed. They both start cooling very quickly for their size. The remote works great even when not pointed at the unit. I can't believe how cold the room get's in so short of time. For an air conditioner it is relatively quiet. The price is also low compared to other name brand air conditioners. I plan to buy one more for my home.

COOLS WELL BUT THE COMPRESSOR NOISE RUINS IT

I bought this unit last month. The high pitch squeal of the compressor, which the manual refers to as "chatter" is totally annoying to the ear and makes it impossible to concentrate on my work.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I very much happy with my air conditioner. At first I was a bit concern it would not have enough power for my place, I live in a studio and its too large to be considerate a room only, I picked this unit to save some money and to get something affordable for me. Air conditioner turn out to be very good and runs smooth. One suggestion I took from the installer was to activate the remote sensor, that way the air conditioner will take the temperature from the remote control, rather the one close to the unit and cools down till the temperature is good around the remote.

So far, so good. We like that it comes with a remote. It was fairly easy to install and it looks so much better than the yellowed old one we had in our wall. I do wish that the EFR was a bit higher. At 9.8 EFR, it doesn't qualify for any of the rebates here in Hawaii, where the minimum EFR is 10.8. I was also surprised how large the unit was for 8,000 BTU. The unit we replaced, of a similar size, was 12,000 BTU. It makes noise like a normal AC unit - no shocker there. I would definitely buy it again.

I like the energy star mode. I like the remote sensing mode. All around a good unit. Would be five stars if the unit blew colder air, it takes a while to recirculate the air before the room cools down.
