Just what I needed

I bought this printer to replace an old ink jet printer that did not communicate well with my new Windows 8.1 computer. This Brother printer works perfectly. Not a single problem. I have it hard wired so the wireless aspect is the only part that I have not tried. I had a Brother laser printer years ago and this one works just as well as that one did.
I would recommend this to a friend!

The small LCD window to display the status of the machine is insufficient. It is small and it should be illuminated. On my previous Brothet laser printer HL 5270 DW. lights indicated the status of the machine. It was well visible.
Your service helping me to install the printer was superb!

Good Printer but Hard to setup...

setup instructions didn't provide enough info. and no phone number for customer service.
Personally I prefer a hard copy manual which most do not provide anymore.
Once I contacted cust. serv. they were very helpful and patient guiding me thru the setup.
Brother recommends having a usb cable for initial wireless setup, but none was provided. I had to buy a high priced usb cable which i have no further need, now that my wireless setup is complete.
So far, i am satisfied with this printer.

It is easy to setup and love the duplex ability.
However, I have problems with the replace toner cartridge feature. It recently stopped printing because it wanted me to replace the toner cartridge. However, the printing was fine no fading and could see no reason to replace a perfectly good cartridge.
Finally pushed enough buttons on the menu to get it to go back to printing but I need to figure out how to turn off that feature.

Deep Sleep???

I've always found Brother printers to be reliable and well worth the money, but what's with this stupid deep sleep thing? I was going to purchase several of these printers for employee desktop use until I saw a friend of mine with one. Having to power cycle the thing once it goes into this goofy deep sleep mode is ridiculous. Someone certainly wasn't thinking on this one.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
