Known problem
on March 1, 2015

I was told by the technician that this particular unit has a known problem with the PCB board, where the defrost cycle is not long enough and consequently caused frost buildup over time. The frost build up will interfere with the fan inside the main compartment and make a loud grinding noise when the fan is on. The LG technician worked on my 5 month old unit he was able to replace the PCB board in 5 minutes. However clearing the frost turned ice build up inside the unit took about 1 hr. Overall I like the unit.

Size and layout great, love the lighting

My husband is probably sick of hearing me say how happy I am with the LG fridge! The lighting is awesome. You can see everything inside at a glance- I have a professional thermometer and have placed it in every part of the fridge- front, back, high, low and it is consistent- does not fluctuate. I was so sick of freezing anything that rolled to the back on my old fridge.
I have read reviews with criticism of the lighting- I don't know what prompts this- I think it's great- glad I picked the LG.
Pros: Performance, Quality

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Four shelves are not interchangeable. Very brittle plastic. Expensive parts.

Unreliable

Bought this refrigerator a little over a year ago. Constant problems with ice maker and now the refrigerator has started a loud squeal every time it runs. The freezer bin builds ice in the bottom because of bad drawer seal. I expected to buy a quality trouble free appliance but this has proven to require constant maintenance. A refrigerator is an appliance that you buy and receive many years of trouble free use. Don't waste your money.
Pros: Style/Design

Used to Love my Fridge
on June 30, 2015

I loved my fridge for about 76 days...then it developed a very loud popping noise as well as a grinding/drilling noise - similar to a running generator or at times a jet engine. At times the noise is unbearable. We've had 2 service calls arranged through the company we bought it from with no resolution and are now getting the run around. To pay the kind of money we have for this fridge only to get a defective product that lasts less than months is unacceptable.
Pros: issues, noise

Buyer Beware
on April 6, 2017

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Husband and I looked at this refrigerator in the store and I generally liked what I saw. I am not a big fan of stainless steel but to get the size and features we both wanted (and because the stainless steel was my husband's preferred choice) and to get one that would fit in our space, this was the choice we made. In the store the interior looked pretty and shiny and bright. I thought, "Wow, it has good lighting." The LED lighting was impressive. But the lights are set to the front and on the side walls instead of overhead and in the center.
BUYER BEWARE.
Got the fridge home, fired it up and loaded it with all our stuff. Suddenly the pretty lights were grossly insufficient. With all the items inside the light was blocked from reaching the back of the refrigerator. The back part of the refrigerator became quite dark. Hard to clearly see what is back there. The same is true for the freezer.
There are, however, several features about this fridge that I like. The deep vegetable bins at the bottom, the cold cuts and cheese drawer, which I raised one level from the factory set position, and the wide, clear door bins (door bins do not adjust, only removable for cleaning). The drawers slide very smoothly.
The stainless steel shows fingerprints and smudges very quickly. I find myself constantly cleaning the doors, and I am not that much of a neat freak.
Check out this refrigerator thoroughly before you commit to buying it.
Pros: easy to use
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Worst refrigerator ever!
on June 16, 2020

Worst refrigerator ever, warranty only covers parts and labor not shelving. My shelving began cracking after the 13 month. And 1 year later all shelves are cracked. To replace the shelving it would be cheaper to buy a new refrigerator and it would not be a LG.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The day after it was delivered the fridge started making noise. It's been about 3+ weeks and it still has not been fixed or even looked at by anyone. Terrible experience.
