After losing 2 computers in 2 years to power issues, I finally got the message! When purchasing my second computer, I also purchased the CyberPower Battery Back-up System. At the same time I also purchased a computerized embroidery machine. It was heavily advised to plug it into a back-up system to protect it.
I didn't have to be told twice at that point. I've been very pleased with this battery back-up system. So far I've had 2 electric issues in which the system saved my computer and embroidery machine. Thank goodness!
There are no cons to this product so far. I'll not be without one ever again.
What's great about it: Reliability
What's not so great: nothing so far
I would recommend this to a friend!

I thought I had a good deal on reliability, but then the power went out and so did my computer. That was the only way I knew the UPS was dead. Took it apart thinking it was the battery, but the battery was fine.
As an electronic technician I can tell you this was built using 1970's technology. Surprised it lasted so long (one year). Jumpers soldered on the board (indicating a missed trace during design), some traces badly soldered, power strip so cheap I'm surprised it got a UL certification. This was a true piece of junk.
This time I got a 550 APC for $20 more hoping it will last longer.
I have another Cyperpower on my wife's iMac and now I'm worried.
What's great about it: It provided power when the power went out (while it was living)
What's not so great: Only lasted a year, battery fine, so it was the electronics that gave out.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Not as advertised. The model is CPS425Ga NOT CPS425SL. I bought 2 on sale @ $29.99 since the batteries died in two of my existing UPS's. Now I know why they were so cheap. The 425Ga has no communications with the computer and therefore cannot perform an orderly shut down when it runs out of juice. I have a 550SL and it works well. I think the Ga must have been designed for ancillary things like cable modems, routers, switches, printers, speakers, etc, although you would never know it from reading the product description. If that's what you want it for, they are OK. If you want to keep your computer from crashing and trashing your system, make sure the UPS can talk to the computer.
What's great about it: OK, for what it does
What's not so great: Doesn't do what I thought

Unit installed with almost no effort. I am using to power my wireless modem, wireless router, wireless print server, and my printer. Seems to handle all fine. One complaint is that it has a serial output and requires an adaptor to hook up to modern USB ports.
What's great about it: Easy to install
What's not so great: Requires USB to Serial adaptor for USB hookup

I own a small IT company and have purchased quite a few UPSs over the years.
This UPS is okay for basic use. I purchase them when they go on sale, otherwise it is worth the extra $5-$10 to get an APC. I currently have this product in my AV closest wile I have an APC on my PC with an APC power conditioner after each. When the APC goes offline there is a single adjustment on the conditioner. When the CyberPower goes off-line, the conditioner goes haywire trying to regulate the voltage. I have also found the CyberPower batteries die after ~2 yrs where the APC last around 3.
Again, okay for the price for non-critical appliances.
What's great about it: price
What's not so great: longevity, power output
I would recommend this to a friend!

This battery backup is good for general use. It serves its purpose for me. At my house we get a lot of short (less than a minute) outages and it works perfect in that regards. If you have longer outages than this battery backup would not be for you.
This is my first time buying a Cyberpower product as I always purchase the APC products but it was $15 cheaper so I thought I would give it a try.
If you want to know how often your power goes out then i would purchase the model with the USB feature.
What's great about it: Good for the price
What's not so great: No USBport

Affordable alternative to APC

I bought this to backup an Apple Mac Pro 2008. This unit has enough juice to handle the Mac Pro, two LCD monitors, and an Ethernet switch. The software that comes with it makes it easy to configure the unit and monitor battery capacity as well as minutes of battery power available under current load. You can also monitor over and under voltage history. Good alternative to more pricey APC units.

I've had this particular unit for over a year now and it has come in handy. It's great for a standard power supply at 300-400 watts. Anything more than that and I"d go up to a more powerful model. It does what it is designed to do and the back up feature is handy too. It comes with the driver cd and cable. This way in a power failure you can save what you're doing and shutdown. I put in a 550 watt power supply in my computer and I still had 15-20 mins. of power with this unit. Plenty of time to back up what I was doing and shutdown. A+
