I Purchased this little tripod to mount a infared light and small camera. I actually bought 2.. This little tripod is sturdy and you can feel confident that it can do the job... The legs extended to give a little more height and support but you have to twist them a little counter closkwise to collapse. .. I have more confidence in the performance of this tripod than the smaller one that i almost purchasd. The extra 5 dollars is well worth it..

My company recently issued me a small projector for business presentations (Vivitek Qumi Q2 Lite LED projector), but the projector doesn't have legs or any way to adjust the height/angle other than stacking things under it. I realized it had a fitting on the bottom (like a camera) for a tripod, so I set out in search of something relatively inexpensive, small enough for travel, yet sturdy enough to handle the weight of the projector (1.1 lbs). I found exactly what I needed at Best Buy and have since recommended it to all my peers. The Sunpak - Platinum Plus Mini-D Tripod is about 7" tall and extends to 11.5", and it comes with a carrying bag. It fits perfectly in the small top zipper compartment of my 21" Travelpro carry-on bag or in the front of my laptop bag. The head swivels and locks securely into place, allowing me to aim the projector exactly how I need it. It's solidly made and I feel like it's going to last for a long time. I highly recommend this compact/tabletop tripod.

I was very attracted to this tripod when I first saw it. It looked small, yet sturdy. Sadly, I was wrong about the sturdy part. Although the legs are fat, they don't hold. More importantly, the ball head is made of plastic, and it won't even hold a little point-and-shoot camera steady! The tightening screw is tapped into plastic, so when you try to cinch it down, you strip it out!
I'm amazed that a store with the reputation of Best Buy carries this. I wish there were a way to give negative stars!
What's great about it: Nothing. It is nearly useless.
What's not so great: It isn't strong enough to hold the camera!
