I bought this mostly as a quick tri-pod to use for shooting quick video tutorials on Youtube. I already had a pretty good camera, just needed to be able to set it up and angle it as I needed. This tripod fits that bill nicely. The only minor detractors are that attaching the camera sometimes requires you spin the whole tripod around (which actually isn't much of an issue since it is so compact) the other being the pins to collapse the legs can sometimes be a little difficult to depress as needed.

This tripod comes in handy when you don't have an even surface to set your camera on. The legs extend individually, (for a maximum height of 12" without the camera), to get the best balance and the camera mount pivots to capture the perfect picture. Rubber feet keep it from slipping. It's heavier than some other models, but on the plus side, it doesn't move when the wind it blowing, the downside, it will add a few extra ounces to your luggage.
