Excellent Buy

I have waited a long time before finally buying a Sony a77 mark 2. I researched all my other camera options, both Sony and the competition. I can say I made the right choice. After you use the electronic viewfinder for a while, you'll never go back to optical. It's truly amazing. Just one single example: If you're the photographer at a wedding and reception, the locations are dark, as you may know. But with the 77 mark 2, just flipping up the built-in flash(or turning on an attached flash) greatly brightens up the viewfinder. This makes it very easy to check autofocus accuracy before shooting. It also makes manual focusing a snap because it looks like someone suddenly turned on the lights!. Back when I was still using optical viewfinder cameras, accurate focusing was stressful and nerve-racking every time, in a typical reception or any dimly lit location.
The camera looks awesome with the vertical grip.
My only disappointment is camera A-mount support. Sony chose to push their new E-mount based cameras and lenses. I wanted, and waited...and waited... for Sony to upgrade the 100mm macro to a SSM version. It never came. A new macro 90mm came in E-mount but there is no way I can use it now. But there ARE ways to put A-mount lenses on E-mount cameras!
Would I recommend the Sony a77 mark 2? You bet! Just be aware that NOW there is a "Sony A" and a "Sony B".
I'm very happy with my 77 mark 2. The only things that would make it even better is a second memory card slot, and an option to attach copyright notice to the images and videos.

6 months of shooting on the a77ii and I cannot be more pleased. The image quality is superb, while the loads of features packed into this camera are as cutting edge as anything in the camera world. I started on Sony so I have always felt the need to stick with them since I did not want to replace all of my lenses which would be very costly... The a77ii makes me not feel like this any longer.. I truly feel I am using Sony because it is the best product for me. The autofocus system is really a shining star here, allowing for more time worrying about subject than "will I have things in focus" The ONLY gripe I have, is that with the electronic viewfinder, I find battery life to be lacking somewhat. Have been on many shoots now where I have gone through 3 battery packs. But otherwise.... this is a fantastic dslr that easily makes a case to switch from the bog two (canon, Nikon) imho.

Sony has done a great job on the updates to the SLT-a77. the New Sony a77ii rocks that was even before software update they just added. It is super fast I'm very happy with it. Love the new video recordings settings. But just a little hit " ADD 4K" and it will be the best ! Camera out there. All I can say is " Well done Sony" !!

Fast focusing & tracking! Only problem is dust on sensor! Only had 1 month.I never change lenses in field! Never had dust on sensor so quick! Makes you wonder if it was in body all ready! Have heard other photographers say the same thing! Have other Sony cameras and it took months to get dust on sensor! Still love camera!

The Sony alpha 77ii puts advanced technology in the palm of your hand. The menus are thoughtfully laid out, easy to set up and easy to apply during use. The a77ii produces stunning results with accurate colors, mind-blowing clarity and excellent image quality. The capabilities of the a77ii in low light photography have exceeded my expectations as well. While this is a large camera, I do not find it heavy, bulky or difficult to handle. I am extremely pleased with the Sony alpha 77ii.

I've been very happy with the a77II. I have a full frame Sony and this lets me get a little extra tele out of the lenses I have. It has been great in every respect. I shot a wedding using this and the 24-70 Zeiss lens and Sony flash and was amazed at the color.

This camera is the best since the 900; every thing works as it should except the very poor wi-fi implementation, What is Sony thinking...rx1 is far superior. This was traded for dropping gps which I used for work and worked beautifully, please bring it back. No one can complain, at its price point, the best camera out there.
