This Blu-Ray version makes the movie so crisp. The music is still great if not better. So many extras, Behind the scenes are wheres its at. Commentary is down right hilarious. Any Evil Dead fan or horror fan or Bruce Campbell fan should get this movie. Its the best edition of this movie. There is even a photo gallery that has so many never before seen pictures. It was a blast to watch and re-watch time and time again.
What's great about it: The price is so cheap and its even better now in HD

This is the best Evil Dead movie in the series. I think it's the most memorable - Ash's hand goes evil, he chops it off, then replaces it with a chainsaw! Lots of violence, but in a light, fun way. It's just a great movie over all. Bruce Campbell has such beautiful bright white teeth and is so charismatic. The moose head is adorable as well. However, it leaves you on a cliffhanger that demands that you see the third one. This set is especially nice because it looks like Necronomicon and screams when you press the eyeball.
What's great about it: Bruce Campbell and Deadites

Evil Dead 2 is one of the greatest horror films of all time. The first film didn't exactly know what it wanted to be, comedic or serious. This one said, why not combine both perfectly, and it did just that. This is the film that made Sam Raimi who he truly is today. And of course let's not forget Bruce Campbell, of which this made him a independent film and iconic screen star.
You want spooks? You get them here. Tired of all the new age horror film counting on CGI effects to try and horrify audience? All practical effects here to make everything look realistic, fun, and awe you all at once. What a satirical take on old horror films? You get 85 minutes worth. It's close to perfect as perfect that horror films could ever get. The only two complaints I would have about this film is the length, 85 min is much too short, I could've gone with 20 minutes of more mayhem, and that the plot is thin and the way that Raimi had to recap everything makes the film look more like a remake than a sequel, but due to copyright laws and which studios own which film, he couldn't help that. This movie is rewatchable as rewatchable can get. It never gets old.
With this 25 Year Anniversary Blu-Ray, you get the perfect set of special features anyone could ask for. Commentary with Bruce and Raimi, the journey to how they got there, interviews, a look on how they did all the makeup effects, and stopmotion, a look at how it became a cult-classic phenomenon, and more. Only thing missing is deleted scenes, and while I don't normally care about that, I think they would've been fun to watch here.
If you are wanting to see the new Evil Dead, and think it is only necessary to watch the first one, think again. you need to include this as well. A great horror movie buff buy.

Nothing new can be written about "Evil Dead II," though that's no fault of the film itself. Rather, it's the fault of the film's legacy: it's gained such a following over the past three decades that so many people have had some sort of say or another about it. So maybe it's better to focus on what the film stands for - that is, it's the elusive sequel that doesn't merely repeat the formula of the original but actually reinvents the formula entirely. Where the first Evil Dead was an impressive foray into the horror genre, making the most of a super-duper limited budget and resources, Evil Dead II is an exercise in excess: more blood, more gore, more screams, more characters, more more more! It throws in everything but the kitchen sink (actually, I think that gets thrown in too, at one point) and winds up with some iconic moments and one hell of a performance by Bruce Campbell - one that's still beloved all these years later, and with good reason. Evil Dead II stands on its own (thanks in some part to the opening five-minute recap of the first film) and also functions as the strongest entry in one of the most endearing (and enduring) horror franchises of all time.
The Blu-ray is excellent, with a great picture and wonderful supplements, including a riotous commentary track and new (at the time of release) feature-length documentary about the making of the film. Then there are some lovely vintage featurettes thrown in for good measure. A must-have in any horror fan's collection.
