Major Design FLAW! JBL H-E-L-P

Yes, the charging port!! To be a leader in design and technology you need to think through the entire design. Like Bose, JBL designed a charging port that you have to be near an outlet to charge. Bose realized this flaw and fixed it right away with a car charger for an additional price. Hopefully the techs at JBL will do the same just as quickly! Even though customers are buying it, including me :). This is a major flaw as the whole point of a portable speaker is to get away from the house and it's outlets! I don't know about you but I'm playing way longer than 5 hours and will need to have the ability to charge on the go, by car or external battery pack, computer or something! I'm sure us customers would happily pay for such an important part of this rock'n little speaker.
After hours of online research, in-store demo with lots of other background noise this truly did tower over the Jambone Jambox mini, much clearer, crisper and of utmost importance Louder. I so wanted the Jambox to win, as their online controls are really cool. The design is also well thought out, with a box shape design less likely to roll around on the boat or in a less than smooth vehicle, and the rubber on top & bottom was a smart idea. The Flip is also a nice looking design and out of the "box" which is so hot right now. The neoprene sock, ha ha, cover with zip is great!!! The sound is just really unbelievable....at home took it outside with the neighbors screaming kids, barking dogs and happily the Flip drowned it out!!! Even at full volume it did not distort like the Jambox. In comparison with my Monster speaker it was crisper, and much louder, both had no distortion at full volume, quite impressive. After testing it in noisy conditions, it's was truly worth the price, as the world is noisy and I need a speaker that can compete. I probably would also suggest for future models a wider base on bottom for less roll over. A 4.5 star speaker only due to bad charging port design. Hopefully JBL reads these reviews and offers another charging option quickly, This will jump this little speaker into the major leagues and sink most of it competitor's!!

i was back and fourth not sure to get this or the jam box and so happy i bought this. so easy to use and set up. love the design. took a minute to sync with my iphone 5 and the sound is amazing.

I have to admit, JBL has certainly thrown it's hat into the wireless speaker and it's refreshing to see a company give it's customers a high quality products.

Great Sound

Great sound and compact size ... the only thing is the playing time is only 5Hours and sometimes it will shut off less than 5 hours .... even if you plug it in still doesnt go very long .....
I would recommend this to a friend!

This speaker has great sound. I am very impressed with the quality of the construction of the speaker itself. it can be used in a horizontal or vertical position.
The one drawback is the instructions. They were very difficult to understand. The instructions were very simple pictures. If some of the directions had been written in lieu of drawings I would not have had to make extra trips back to the store for a demonstration.
Even with the instruction issue the product is still great.

I received my JBL Flip only a day after I ordered it online. I opened the package and it was already charged so I turned on my bluetooth on my phone and pressed the on button on the speaker and it connected immediately. I turned on music and the sound quality was amazing! The volume goes really loud and crisp. The downside is, I was playing my music a little bit higher than halfway of the volume control on my phone (with the JBL volume turned up all the way) and I started hearing these "popping" sounds from the speaker. The kind of sound you hear when a speaker you've had for a long time starts to not be able to go past a certain volume and the speakers start to blow out. I was afraid I was going to blow them out the first use so now I'm keeping it at a lower volume. The bass is good but you can't put it too high or you can tell the speakers are having difficulty with it, but it's understandable for a small speaker such as this one. The battery lasted almost 4 hours, maybe less. It might be because I didn't charge it since I opened the box. Overall, it's a great speaker. I got my money's worth but if you're going to be going on hikes or trips like camping and you won't be able to get to an outlet quick, I would recommend the JBL Charge. The JBL Flip is suppose to last up to 5 hours whereas the JBL Charge lasts up to 12 hours PLUS you can charge your phone through it (It has a USB port). Both JBL products are wireless.

Yes, the JBL Flip works with smartphones that support Bluetooth. Just turn on Bluetooth on your Nokia 520, let it scan for devices nearby, and select the JBL Flip. If your phone asks for a code, enter 0000. If you are still having problems, please contact customer service at 1.800.336.4525.

My dad just passed away and my mom bought this so I could listen to the music that my dad and I loved. I am loving this. It was easy to hook up to the phone or Kindle and I have been using it all the time. It has a great sound and I don't have to have it up loud for it to be comfortable. I barely have the sound on my phone or Kindle up and I can hear it perfectly.
