I haven't seen 2004's H. Boy, but in my opinion you don't need to see 2004's H. Boy to appreciate H. Boy II: The Golden Army, because its that great of a movie. But in all fairness I am going to see 2004's H. Boy to truly say that I am indeed a fan.

I absolutely loved this movie! This is a must on BLU RAY. The graphics and action is amazing! Crystal clear. The story line was great. I'm not going to spoil anything for you on the story. But I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. Sad, Funny, Action Packed all in one. BUY IT!!!!!

What's not so great: Nothing

I am more and more impressed with 4K as a format as more releases come out. While every release I've bought, so far, has been an improvement over the Bluray some are slightly better and some are night and day different. This is one that really pops with color thanks to HDR. I love it when I have a movie like this on Bluray and thought that it couldn't get any better and then 4K blows it out of the water. Not all 4K releases are this impressive.
