Needs Improvement

I have a 150 sqft area of tile that covers the kitchen, entrance and bathroom. In my first attempt to use Scooba, I set it to large room (150-300 sqft). When it finished, the clean tank was almost empty, but the dirty tank was completely dry. It just contained a bit of dust. From experimenting I found limiting Scooba to about 90 sqft but still using large room works best. It collects about 5-10% of the water it uses. The top of my Scooba is heavily scratched from becoming wedged under the dishwasher and kitchen cabinets. It sometimes is able to open the cabinet doors. I've started rolling up old towels and putting them under the cabinets. I now have to hand clean these areas. Scooba likes to climb onto the carpet then rotate when it realizes it can't move forward. Rotating makes things worse - it would be better if it would back up. I set up barricades on the carpet as the virtual wall is too imprecise and would mean more floor to hand clean. The spiral mode seems to be the most effective cleaning mode Scooba has. Water left on the floor when spiraling outward is picked up when spiraling inward before the water can air dry. However it does this only once then reverts to random paths around the room. The spiral seems to have a diameter limit of about five feet and sometimes it aborts the spiral at about one foot without even hitting any obstacle. The brush is so thin that only a few bristles touch the floor at any given time (I had a look underneath while Scooba was sitting on glass). The bristles are too short to reach into tile grout. The brush can pick up some hair and dust bunnies but that's about it. iRobot needs to offer an optional heavy scrubber brush (20 times the number of bristles and longer). I divide my 150 sqft tile floor into two parts then run each part as a large room. I do two passes for each part. The first pass with soap solution and the second pass with water and vinegar only to try to pick up the air dried soap left from the first pass. This requires four charges. I end up spreading this across two days. Scooba does not have a reset button. Once it has started a cycle it can be paused but it will always resume from where it left off. If you have to interrupt it in the drying stage then start it the next day it will resume drying a dry floor - wasting time and battery. I am a little freaked when Scooba slams into my appliances. My stove makes a loud noise but I am more worried about my fridge getting scratched. It would be nice if Scooba had a sensor that made it slow down when approaching obstacles. There is no USB port for software updates.
Pros: Easy Maintenance
Cons: Dirty Water In Tile Grout, Gets stuck on carpet, Gets stuck under cabinets, Hard Bangs Into Appliance, Ineffective brush, No Usb Port For Updates, Slow Charge

Soak feature allows water to evaporte before it is sucked up

The Scooba 390 was perfect. The 450's soak function reduced the effectiveness of the Scooba dramatically. At least that is what I believe causes there to be very little water in the dirty tank. It appears that when it lays down water to "soak", most of the water evaporates before it gets back around to vacuum it up. So all it is doing is adding soap to the dirt on the floor, if you are using soap. If not, it is simply laying water down on top of your dust and debris. I am extremely hopeful that the next version upgrade will not have this soak function. If you've experienced the same thing, please voice your opinion so we can get that taken off of the next Scooba!
Cons: Soak feature allows water to evaporate too soon

A much cleaner home !

You do need to put some time in to keeping Scooba clean but its quiet, charges quickly and that translates to using it more often. Come home to clean floors or even use it night (its quiet enough). I recommend using a separate vacuum cleaner first (Roomba ?) and using a sieve or similar when draining the dirty water to stop you clogging your waste pipes. A GREAT time saver and a cleaner home !
Pros: A time saver, Cleans Where You Don´t, Quick Recharge 2hrs, Surprisingly quiet
Cons: Important To Clean Scooba, Use A Robot Vac First

This machine seems confused. misses sections.Bad navigation

This machine sometimes does not finish the job. I just watched it lay down fluid on my kitchen hardwood floor, over and over without ever doing the the very important squeegee and vacuum part. Scooba left the water on the floor and announced it was done. Plenty of remaining battery charge, small room, no excuse...Sometimes it does all the cycles, but on a large room it leaves water to evaporate before it gets to the cleaning cycles.
Pros: Does not complete the job
Cons: Long Charge Time, Misses Spots, Noisy, cannot navigate

Poor quality, leaves water, incessant warnings

I would not recommend buying the Scooba. One of my main reasons for purchasing the Scooba was to save time; unfortunately, it does not save me very much time. I have had to set it up (5 min.), go to its rescue because it became lodged under furniture and cabinets (5 min.), correct the errors saying it was stuck on a perfectly flat surface (2 min.), and clean it (5 min. - while listening to it repeatedly tell me to turn it upright - I turn it upside-down to take off the brush attachment and clean it). On average I spend 10-20 minutes to clean one 300 square foot room. I can clean that size room by hand in that amount of time. Considering I have to do this several times because of the size of my house, it becomes quite annoying. Also, my Scooba lasted about a year and a half which is not impressive considering the cost. The thing is annoying too; there are constant warnings and beeping. It becomes clogged constantly, and I have to clean the screen which doesn't appear to have any debris on it, but after it is cleaned, it works again. This machine is too much trouble.
Cons: Clogs Easily, Gets stuck, Hassle to Operate, Misses Spots
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Your marketing does yourself such a diss

When I would see your ads - you have clean homes shown - sometimes so modern they look like they never even could get dirty. My husband works with former industrial designers from iRobot and kept asking me if we should look into getting one. I replied that they would never work for us. We have kids, 3 dogs, a cat which come with lots of hair, dirt and drool. After two hours I have never been in love so much in my life. While I lay in bed in the morning sipping my Diet Pepsi my 9 year old son fetches Roomba and it vacuums all the dog hair and dust under the bed, dressers and everywhere else it lands. Then we bring in Scooba. The smell of the cleaning solution alone makes my day so much brighter. So in closing don't be afraid to tout that it can work for overworked moms who are soooooo sick of housework.
Pros: Pets, WORKHORSE

If you have pets the water filter may clog and give you error 19. Easy to follow instructions to clean filter are available. Now that I know the procedure.... I'll turn it into a routine. I have Roomba 880, Scooba 450 and Brava 380T I use them regularly and love them all. Each has a special use. Without children or pets most people might be happy with the Brava 380T for simple mopping with a Swifter pad.
