I have had my Scooba for 12 years. Love it, but it is getting old and parts are harder to find. Not interested in Braava. The Braava demos are unimpressive. For those who are having a problem with the battery life, an IRobot rep told me the secret is to remove the battery after each use and store it in a cool dark place.

This product is amazing. I use it on my tile floor and it saves me time from mopping everything all the time. It does such a good job that I find myself having more time with the wife. I don't know if that is a good or a bad thing as of yet. She is still in the excitement phase of not having to mop all the time. I assume that will wear off soon. Anyways, according to my calculations, I find that this thing cleans 99.5% of the bacteria in my home so the advertisement is being a bit humble. I am curious as to what will happen when I run my Roomba and this at the same time. Perhaps it will be like that Robot Wars show. I will update my review after seeing the results.

Better than not mopping

I typically use this in my kitchen and high traffic areas to clean and sanitize as we have a infant crawler who is all over the floor. Like most new products, some kinks have to be worked out. Where Scooba falls short is the final stages of squeegee cleanup. It just doesn't work on my floors, which are admittedly older hardwood that is not always level. It also seems to give too much of a buffer for virtual walls. I have to set them about 2 feet further out than what I expected because otherwise Scooba doesn't come anywhere close to the boundary. I feel like I have to babysit this thing. While Scooba works well, I'm just not convinced it was worth the purchase.
Pros: Cleans Great, Fast, No Manual Labor, Respects Carpet, Sanitizing, Set It And Walk Away
Cons: Huge Virtual Wall Buffer, Not Great On Uneven Floor, Sometimes Leaves Puddles

Please bring the Scooba back! I love my Scooba, and I need another! I have 3 large dogs, and Scooba Steve keeps my floors clean... But he needs help! I have the Braava, and while it's good for low traffic areas, Scooba Steve handles the big jobs... Discontinuing him was the biggest mistake ever! Please bring him back!!!

Great Addition To Our Staff of Minions

My kitchen & bathroom floors are much cleaner than our Brava 380 could get them. I do run our Roomba 880 before using the Scooba to get up dirt, hair, etc. We have ceramic tile with a heavily textured surface set in fairly wide deep grout (think Mexican tile). I see a noticeable improvement on the tile edges and in the grout as compared to damp mopping with our Braava 380, but it's still not 100% - thus 4 stars rather than 5 (wish there was something that really went down into the grout lines). While the room size of my kitchen is small, I used the large area cleaning mode to get extra scrubbing time. Note that you CANNOT use vinegar, or any Clorox (even the iRobot Clorox which can be used with other iRobot products), or any cleaning solution except the iRobot brand with the Scooba 450 - it voids the warranty. The Scooba does not go up on thicker carpeting, nor does it wet the edge of that carpeting. However, it will climb up on thinner carpeting. It does a fantastic job of getting itself out of slots, such as along the narrow space between the toilet and adjacent wall (it wiggles around until the front is facing out the slot and then just shoots out). The diameter of the Scooba is 14.5" (bigger than a Roomba) so it won't go around toilets that have really narrow spaces along the sides. Watching it shake itself at the end of a cycle is hilarious - and better than a dog, it then circles around and gets up the water it has shaken off. And finally, it is very easy to clean when you're finished.

I never review products but I'm writing this review to tell you that this is a good product. I hesitated for a long time before buying the floor mopping robot due to the price. Due to health reasons I just can't mop the basement floor any more. After my son left for college I finally had to find a new way to get the floor clean so I choked down the price. I've had the robot for several months now. I LOVE IT!! Yes, the price was painful but now that time has passed I only see the helpfulness of the product. It's not the maid we all dream of. You still have to sweep the floor. You still have to move furniture. BUT THEN YOU JUST TURN IT ON AND WALK AWAY. The really hard work, mopping, is magically taken care of. You do have to mop the floor in sections, but I find that a good thing. I don't have to lift and flip chairs onto tables; I can just move chairs to the other section. I sometimes use the moved furniture to make barriers to divide the floor into sections. I recommend that you place the Lighthouse thing in plain view so that you don't forget to turn it off after mopping. This machine is a big, big help to me. It's easy to use, easy to clean. Well-designed.

Cons: Battery Charging Speed, Have To Work In Sections, Short Battery Life
