Great product

I live off the grid and am always in a remote area selling off the grid properties in Northern Arizona. This scanner is compact, durable, and produces high quality scanned documents. I use Epson Scan as it was much easier to use. This product gets a 5 star rating from me.

First portable scanner

Took DS40 on the road first week I received. Scanned into IPhone and sent communications documents to office 300 miles away. Scanner worked flawlessly. Really makes document communication easy

Compatibility Issues with Scanner and Windows 10

I recently bought this scanner and shorty thereafter upgraded to Windows 10. Ever since, my scanner gives me error messages the it "cannot communicate with scanner..." I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers (from the FAQ section on the Epson website) and I still get the same message.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Installs on OS X 10.11 but doesn't function, so unfortunately I had to return it. I even installed all of the updates to no avail.

It works

Somewhat clunky software on a Mac. Tricky to name files and difficult to change folders to save to. I had to install the software twice before it seemed stable. Drop dead easy to connect and print from my iPad.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Earned its keep in the first few hours

Bought it to scan in legal sized documents that are too big for my flatbed Epson scanner.
Scanned in over 60 pages as soon as I had the scanner set up.
It took me much less time to scan it all in than it would have taken with the flat bed scanner.

Perfect Convenience

Just love this portable scanner. It's convenient to hook up (and store when not in use) and scanning a document is so quick and easy. Couldn't stop "experimenting" when we first set it up. Scanned all kinds of documents - word docs, pics, half sheets. Received this as a gift from my husband to get me started scanning mountains of genealogy data. I dreaded the thought of having to use the scanner portion of my printer/copier/scanner to do this because of the time it takes for each scan. I kept putting it off. Now I can get busy getting things saved to the computer instead of keeping all those paper copies. What a terrific machine!
