I found it frusting that I go and buy the printer, drive one hour home only to find that you need to buy a usb to usb cable to initialize the wireless connection from the printer to the computer.

Not as good as my last epson

I decided to upgrade my printer to one that is AirPrint . My previous printer was an epson so decided to stick with that brand since I had no problems with it. I have both macs and pc's to print from, but it has to be connected to my mac in order for the computer to recognize the scanner. I cannot get it to switch off of 2 sided printing, even though it says it is off everything I print it does 2 sided, so if I have something that I don't want on both sides I have to print individual pages instead of all. Today it decided that it no longer wanted to communicate with my pc - so I had to go through the whole set up again. It was a breeze to set up from the start, but since then I am constantly running into problems with it!! Frustrating...

Print when needed

If you have a document that needs to be printed immediately, you are out of luck if one of the color cartridges needs to be replaced. Switching to grayscale does not help; the printer will not print the document.

Pooped out after less than 6 months

We've had this printer for just under 6 months. As of tonight, it will not print blue and the black printing is blurry. Have tried 3 cartridges, done 4 head cleanings, aligned cartridges and still no blue. The troubleshooting section of the user's guide gives no guidance on what to do next. It seems to jam frequently, intermittently prints with white streaks. Decidedly disappointed.

This printer is a very good printer and does most of what it is designed to do. Initial set up is easy right out of the box with a couple of exceptions. The instructions for initial set up leaves something to be desired in setting up the WIFI, the network and several of the regular use descriptions. Several of the functions are passed off to the online manual without comment, and setting such things as network password is not intuitive. A complete manual should be included!

Use Only Genuine Epson Ink
on September 29, 2014

I just purchased my second WF-3540. I thought I could save a bit of money on my first one by buying aftermarket ink. I won't go into the details but after I tried unsuccessfully to unclog the jets I made things worse.
I found an online retailer who had a sale on them and I figured it would cost me about as much to have it professionally repaired as buying a new one so I bought it. I will now only be using genuine Epson brand ink.
Other than that, which was my fault, the printer has been great or I would not have purchased a second one just like it. My first one lasted over 1.5 years. I am running both USB connection and Wi-Fi. Setup was easy. We like that we can print from anywhere in the house. The paper trays hold a lot and print quality is very good.
I've learned my lesson and I hope I'll be getting more than 1.5 years use out of my second WF-3540.

Epson Printer

For most purposes I really like the Epson printer that I purchased two weeks ago. One thing that I am not happy about is that when I scan photos I have to put them into a pictures folder and then put them in iPhoto. My previous printer would scan directly to iPhoto on my iMac.

The Epson printers are about the best you can buy The only problem I have is I bought this one so I could load it with envelopes and leave it but you can only put envelopes in the top tray (or one at a time in rear slot), This creates a problem because it defaults to the top tray to print anything, and some times it refuses to let you select the bottom tray. I would give it a 5 if it would let you select which tray you needed as the default paper tray. This is still great printer and for the price nothing else comes close.
