AWESOME PRINTER!!!!

I love my printer! I have had the Epson WF-3540 for almost 2 years now and I still love it! My mother bought this for me as a gift as an alternative to another brand whose ink I was unable to afford. Most people don't realize they must take into account not only the cost of the printer but the upkeep cost such as ink, paper, photo paper etc. I can afford this printer and it does all of what I need and then some.
I love the duplexing feature since it helps me save paper (good for the environment & the pocketbook). Also a huge money saver is the preview feature, where you can scan something and look at a preview on the touchscreen before printing it so you can make sure it is correct before using paper and ink up. Speaking of ink, the replacement inks are extremely affordable!!! The multipack of all 4 cartridges costs less than 1 XL cartridge of my prior brand. There are also multiple ways to purchase the cartridges, single colors in regular and XL High Yield and multiple options for the black cartridges also. There are four cartridges in total and they are very long lasting for the prices.
I had a problem a couple of months ago, with a feature I didn't understand how to use, so I called customer service. I fully expected to be charged for the phone call since the printer was more than a year old. Not only did I NOT get charged but the representative was patient and kind and walked me through the process of enabling the feature and correctly setting the options. I was very happy with Epson's customer service representative.
All in all there are no cons to this printer unless you want to count a little shaking and a slight bit of noisiness - I don't even consider that a con - just how printers work. Even though I use this printer for "personal" use, it is printing at least 5 out of 7 days. I collect recipes and patterns from the internet and compile them into binders. So the WF-3540 gets pretty heavy use from me.

Wasted my Money

In order to get decent quality you have to print on the highest quality. When you print on the regular setting blues and greens get mixed up and text misaligns. The rate at which ink gets used up is horrible, and it gets much worse, of course, when you print on the high quality setting. The rate at which ink gets used up makes this a terribly expensive printer to operate, and the quality deficiencies make ownership of this piece of junk even more frustrating. Is it just the WF-3540 or is it Epson printers in general that are so problematic? This purchase was a waste of money and its operating costs ensure that more gets wasted with each passing day.

My first computer? IBM PC Jr. 1983. First printer? Epson FX85. TWENTY-NINE years later? Epson again. That should save space and say it all.
Thanks Epson.

New workforce 3540

This was a last minute purchase as I was looking for something to print from my iPad 2 and iPhone 4. The setup was extremely easy and I was up and running quickly. In about an hour I had my windows laptop, iPod and iPhone printing over my wifi! I even scanned a document as a test and sent to my iPad and then emailed it. All very intuitive and did not require much technical know how. I have had a workforce 600 all in one that has served me well for 3 years, but was looking for the iOS easy printing ability. I will keep the old workforce 600 as a backup printer. This new workforce is much quicker to print and the touch screen display is very responsive. I would definitely recommend!

Easy set-up and excellent features

My last three printers were from a highly recognized brand. When the last one bellied-up yesterday after four years I began researching printers on the net and in-store. Nothing in this price range compared feature-wise to the Epson WF-3540.
It was a breeze from unpacking to setting up on my WiFi network. Very clear instructions and - a real novelty in the 21st century - a 41 pg quick guide manual.
Over the years I have used printers from dot-matrix to lasers, for business and home, and this is the best print from an ink-jet yet!
I'll update this review as I add my smartphones, tablets and explore.
Many thanks EPSON for making current techonology available at a reasonable price.

Great Value

I've just started using it today. I set it up yesterday and everything went great. The fax quality is great, the scanner works very well, it is a little slow but most scanners are. I ran 2 25 page reports through the top feed tray and they scanned in about 4-5 minutes (from set up to save options).

Received the printer earlier this week and just set it up. Very simply, easy - went off without a hitch. I set it up for wireless operation on my home network; expected the usual glitches and troubleshootiung but it was effortless, a piece of cake. I have it printing to 3 devices wirelessly and flawlessly. Very fast and good quality.
