I purchased this LG washer in November after my wife said the old washer was leaking. After many years and a few fixes it was time to say good bye to the old washer.
I have been looking at washers whenever I would pass them in the Big Box Stores and one feature I wanted most was a plastic top around where the bleach dispenser is located. Every washer with the enameled steel around the bleach dispenser would rust in short order and possibly discolor the clothes when the rust would flake off. I noticed that LG had the plastic surround above the tub and I kept that in the back of my mind when time came to purchase a new washer.
After looking at several washers, this LG model was the only one that satisfied my desire - plastic around the bleach dispenser. I also wanted a top-load washer and I really liked the glass top to be able to see into the washer as it ran. That novelty wore off soon and now I keep the lid open not only to help dry out the washer but to prevent someone from dropping a jug of laundry detergent off of the shelf above the washer and breaking the glass lid! I can imagine what one of those lids cost!
Ok. Down to washing. I am very satisfied with performance of this washer. One feature I wish this washer had was a way to set the water level manually. I use the automatic normal wash settings and never had a problem with the clothes not coming clean but my wife feels there isn't enough water and always uses the 'bulky/bedding' setting which fills the tub up to the top with water. I think it is a waste of water. A manual setting would be nice to allow a half-filled tub of water for washing but I suppose that would negate the Energy Saving criteria of this washer.
A normal wash cycle is 57 minutes and I only once had to rebalance the load at the end since it was a big, bulky, single item. Lay your regular clothes out evenly on the bottom and you will not have any problem with balance. Oh, and make sure the washer is level to begin with. The curved top makes this a challenge using a level but if you look inside of the washer straight down at the tub when it is empty you can see if the large plastic support around the top of the tub is centered. If it is, then it is pretty much level. If not, the four legs can be adjusted by turning them clockwise to lower and counter-clockwise to raise them if you are looking at them from the bottom. The further the legs are screwed into the base of the washer the less shaking and vibration there is when the high-speed rinse cycle runs.
Ok. I have rambled enough. I am very satisfied with this washer. If you don't like the low water level this machine uses then wash your clothes on the 'bulky/bedding' setting. If you have balance problems, check and adjust the level and length of the legs and layer your clothes evenly along the bottom of the tub before starting. If you hate rust around the bleach dispenser forming, then this washer is for you.
PS: This washer qualifies for energy rebates in many areas. I am getting $50.00 back from NJ Clean Energy Program. Be sure to check your state or local energy utility for similar programs.

Excellent machine - only one potential drawback

Very happy with how the machine washes clothes. Easy to use the controls. Pleased with the variety of settings. The only drawback for us is that our drainpipe was too small for the volume of water that came from the drainhose. As a result the drainhose became disconnected mid-cycle and flooded our basement. Once we realized what the problem was and put a stronger clamp on both ends of the drainhose, we've had no problems. There should be a warning about this that comes with the machine.

Good Washing Machine

Have had a couple of months and no problems yet. Had one load so far we had to re balance . I think that was cause we had to many heavy clothes on top .It is hard to reach clothes on bottom of tub. Seems to clean well and is quiet. Some people say wash cycle is long but doesn't seem any longer than the last two wash machines i have had. So far I am happy with purchase .

A dream machine

We couldn't be more pleased. We're saving on water and soap over our past washer. The LG is so quiet, the multiple settings are wonderful and clothes are not all twisted up when the wash cycle is finished. We tried the soak cycle the other day as well as putting bleach in the bleach dispenser. It worked perfectly. All in all we've not experienced any disatisfaction with the washer!

Washer does not balance well

I have had this washer for about 8 months. I continue to have issues on the spin cycle with an "unbalanced load" error. The only way for the washer to finish a cycle without this error is to fill it up quite high with clothing, etc. to create a heavy load and have all items of the same type (e.g., no mixing of towels and underwear). This is a real usability issue for our family since I have small kids and sometimes need to run small loads or loads with multiple types of items. You also cannot wash waterproof items like waterproof mattress pads in this washer - thus it is not a good choice for someone with a potty-training child. When the washer gets an unbalanced error, it fills up with water and swishes the clothing around to rebalance. In the process it twists the clothes quite a bit, and has damaged my clothing several times. It uses a lot of water in the meantime, and extends the wash time to almost 2 1/2 hours sometimes. I believe this is an issue with the design since I have had a tech come out to look at the washer, and he said it is operating fine (and that an unbalanced error is not uncommon).

Great Washer, but plan ahead.

The control panel is easy to understand and to use... The clothes wash up very nicely and you can do very large loads in this thing... The only draw back is the amount time it takes to do a load of laundry. I am assuming this is common to all HE washers. A standard load takes 57 minutes to complete which was just something we were not used to.

I have only had this machine couple months and it seems to clean well. My only concern is how little water is in the machine. I worry about getting all the soap out, I use very little because of this , I need to test in the sink after the washing is finished to see if there is any soap left in a towel or washcloth. It is very quiet, hardly know it is on.
